渡辺は、『先生さようなら』（日本テレビ系、毎週月曜深夜0時59分～）で主演を務めている。主人公・田邑拓郎が国語教師に恋をした過去と、美術教師となり女子高生と惹かれ合う現在が交錯する学園ラブストーリーで、渡辺は27歳の美術教師と17歳の高校生時代を熱演。北香那、林芽亜里をはじめとする若手女優や、渡辺の後輩であるジュニア内ユニット・7 MEN 侍の中村嶺亜と菅田琳寧、少年忍者・檜山光成も出演中だ。
