This is the sixth track on our Giant fairy’s first Japanese album ‘DRAMA’, released on 20 December 2017.

The original version of [ずっと一緒さ Zutto Issho sa] (= Together Forever) is by [山下達郎 Tatsurō Yamashita] — It’s Yamashita-san’s 43rd single (2008), and also the theme song of TV series [薔薇のない花屋 Bara no nai Hanaya (= Flower Shop without Roses)] – featuring [香取慎吾 Shingo Katori] and [竹內結子 Yuko Takeuchi].

In case you don’t know who Tatsurō Yamashita is – He’s a Japanese singer-songwriter and record producer who is known for pioneering City Pop. He has been called a “sound craftsman” because of his commitment to music-making. In 2003, he was ranked by HMV Japan as sixth in the Top 100 Japanese Artists.

PS. I didn’t know that he married [竹内まりや Mariya Takeuchi] until today 🤯 For those who don’t yet know, she’s an influential figure in the city pop genre as well as one of the best-selling music artists in Japan ~

PPS. Yamashita-san attended law school at Meiji University, but dropped out… which reminds me of a long lost friend of mine who graduated from Meiji. I could still recall that afternoon when we were sitting inside a pavilion in the mountain and chitchatting — He was telling me about how the rivalry between Meiji University and Tokyo University was similar to that of UK’s Cambridge and Oxford… Can’t believe so many years just flew by like that… 😮

By the way, Yamashita-san has been vigorously opposing streaming music, reason being that the streaming companies profit from it yet have no contribution at all to the creation of the music itself. As a result, it’s hard to find his music on those streaming platforms.

Have you watched [서울엔 우리집이 없다 Seoul Zip] hosted by our Giant Fairy yet? It’s one of my favourite TV shows; not just because of one of the MCs (To be quite honest with you, I think the programmes he participated so far have all been of high quality), but also because of its unique theme – ‘Rethink the forgot essence and spirit of ‘home’, and look for the dream home that everyone cherishes deep down’ 💜

The MCs visit the homeowners who left Seoul, where housing prices were too high, to build their dream homes in different parts of Korea. Watching these couples working hard as a team to realise their shared dreams really moves me.

As the last part of the lyrics go — In the ocean of time, let us be for each other and float to the future together… With that special someone by your side, obstacles, challenges, and hard times don’t matter anymore, because you are not alone, and, ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’! (~ John C. Maxwell) 💞

Stay blessed, everyone! 🍀🍀🍀
