Nobody Warned Me Japan Had a Forest Completely Submerged Under Water | 白川湖 山形県 #shorts

白川湖 — 山形県西置賜郡飯豊町
Shirakawa Lake in Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture is home to one of Japan’s most surreal natural spectacles — the 水没林 (submerged forest). Each spring, rising water levels flood the surrounding woodland, leaving hundreds of bare trees standing silently beneath the lake’s glassy surface. The result is an otherworldly scene unlike anything else in Japan.

🚌 Access: From Yonezawa Station (JR Ou Main Line), take a bus or taxi toward Iide Town — approx. 60 min. By car, approx. 40 min from Akayu IC (Tohoku Expressway).
