岡山県高梁市の旧吹屋小学校。1900年に建築され、2012年に閉校するまで現役最古の木造校舎でした。文明開化の息吹を感じさせる洋風な校舎は、2022年に保存修理を終え、古き良き時代の記憶を語り継いでいます。
Fukiya Elementary School in Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture. It was built in 1900, the oldest wooden school still in use until its closure in 2012. This Western-style school building, which evokes the atmosphere of the Meiji era’s modernization, underwent preservation and restoration in 2022. It continues to tell the memories of a bygone era.

ここを初めて尋ねたのは、もう30年以上も前の事だったと思います。町中の赤い壁がベンガラを材料とするものだと言うことを知りました。個性豊かな日本の地方の街並みを残したいものですね。
