Hiking in the Rain on Forest Trail to Mountain Castle Ruins | Nara, Japan

Hiking in rain, fog, and mist on forest trail to Takatori Castle Ruins in Nara, Japan. We start on a small rural road at the base of the mountain and pass through a small park with cherry blossoms in full bloom before starting up the trail. There is rain throughout the hike, and as we get closer to the mountaintop ruins we enter the clouds, giving the old stones a bit of atmosphere in the dark forest. I had planned on spending a bit more time in Tsubosaka Temple, seen in the last few minutes of the walk, but it was a bit crowded and my camera battery was low, so that will have to wait for another time.

  1. 🌧🌲 This feels like a real adventure into a hidden world… hiking through the rain, surrounded by deep forest and ancient ruins 🏯✨ The atmosphere is so raw, peaceful, and beautifully mysterious

I can almost hear the raindrops and feel the cool air… it’s like stepping into a quiet story far away from everything 🌿💭 There’s something so calming about walking in nature, even in the rain

This is more than a hike — it’s a journey for the soul 🕊💙

Huge respect to the creator 🙌🔥

Who else wants to experience this? 👇🌧

  2. Nice walk – impressive castle walls &, for some reason, I thought those frogs were doing 'that' long before those walls were built!

  3. Oh … 😌 if i was there i just sit down under sakura tree silently in support of tree and enjoy silence for hours and hours even my legs feel pain .

    Pure peace 🌸🙂

  4. Thank you!! ❤🙏I love your forest trail walks, but this one was SO mystical and magical with all of the mist, rain and fog!! LOVE it!! 💚😍

  5. The mountain castle in the middle of the forest is very scary plus the white fog is very thick, I hope you are okay, my friend!

  6. The DANGER signs at the edges of the trail were ominous. Other parts of the trail were badly eroded, leaving exposed roots. The vegetation looked like something out of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Not at all what I have grown to expect from Japanese Gardening….But, maybe the trail was in transition being repaired at the time?

  7. Walking along a rainy forest path and climbing up to the castle ruins looks truly atmospheric 🌧🌲

  8. It feels peaceful, calm and cool. It would be very comfortable if I could live there. Thank you for sharing this great video. I hope you will always be blessed.

  9. A very immersive hike, where the rain and forest trail create a rich, atmospheric mood that makes the castle ruins at the top feel even more striking and memorable.
