I took a solo trip to Nozawa Onsen, a beautiful snow village in Japan. Interestingly, it is the only village in the country that actually has “onsen” (hot spring) in its official name.

In this vlog, I explore the unique “Sotoyu” culture. There are 13 public baths hidden throughout the streets, and they are all free to use. These hot springs have been kept beautiful for a long time thanks to the local community’s efforts and the donations left by visitors.

Beyond the baths, Nozawa Onsen has so many charms such as the ancient shrine, moving walk which takes you to a surprising spot, unique delicious local food..I hope you enjoy this little journey into the steam and snow. ❄️♨️

    Lovely place. I can imagine hiking or cross country skiing all day and coming back to an onsen, warm food, and drinks. Beautiful views and shrines. Very nice. I hope you enjoyed your time there!
