今回は、埼玉県北本市にある東間浅間神社にお詣りしてきました。
由緒書きによると創建については諸説あり、「富士大権現略縁起」によると崇徳天皇の御世(1123-1142)、武蔵国主であった大納言藤原俊行公の霊夢に、最初は本地薬師如来(ほんじやくしにょらい)の姿で、2度目は木花開耶姫(このはなさくやひめ)となって現れた祭神が、当地を示して貴賊男女の繁栄の地となすべきと言って東を指して飛び去り、その後、富士山を尊び直ちに社殿を建立した記されているそうです。
また「風土記稿」には「鴻巣東新田富士浅間は伊奈備前守御代官の頃(1596-1615)、深井藤右衛門及び長楽坊・大乗坊勧請すとあり、是当社のことなるべし」とあり、当社は、寛永年間(1624-43)のころまでは鴻巣領東新田と呼ばれていたそうです。
御祭神は、木花咲耶姫命で安産と子育ての御神徳があります。
東間浅間神社がある富士塚は、「東間の富士塚」として北本市指定有形民俗文化財に指定されており、地元では「浅間様」と呼ばれ親しまれているそうです。参道と石段及び社殿は直線上に配置され、富士山を正確に指向するように作られているそうです。
石段の中腹には享保8年(1723)の銘が入った「石段供養塔」があり、築造時期は、少なくとも江戸時代中期に遡ると考えられているそうです。
We will be visiting Azuma Sengen Shrine in Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture.
There are various theories about its founding, but one says that during the reign of Emperor Sutoku (1123-1142), the enshrined deity appeared in a spiritual dream to the lord of Musashi Province, Grand Minister Fujiwara Toshiyuki, first as Honji Yakushi Nyorai and then as Konohanasakuyahime. He pointed to the area and said it should be a place of prosperity for nobles, thieves, men and women, before pointing east and flying away. He then immediately built a shrine in reverence of Mount Fuji.
Additionally, the “Fudoki-go” (Fudoki-go) states, “It is said that Konosu Higashi-Shinden Fuji Sengen was enshrined by Fukai Toemon, Chorakubo, and Daijobo during the time of Ina Bizen-no-kami’s magistrate (1596-1615), and this must be our shrine.” This suggests that this shrine was called Konosu-ryo Higashi-Shinden until the Kan’ei era (1624-1643).
The enshrined deity is Konohanasakuyahime, who is known for granting safe childbirth and child-rearing.
The Fujizuka mound where Azuma Sengen Shrine is located is designated a Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Kitamoto City as “Azuma’s Fujizuka,” and is affectionately known locally as “Sengen-sama.” The approach, stone steps, and shrine building are arranged in a straight line, and are said to be designed to accurately point Mount Fuji. Its construction is thought to date back to at least the mid-Edo period.
