涙岬は釧路市と根室市の間に位置する浜中町の厚岸側にあり、霧多布から少し離れています。北海道道123号沿いに駐車場があり、断崖絶壁の上から涙岬と立岩が見られるビューイングスポットです。涙岬は別称「乙女の涙」と呼ばれ、横から見た岩の形状が悲しげな女性の横顔に見えることから名付けられたそうです。敷地内には遊歩道・展望台・駐車場があります。また、女性演歌歌手石川さゆり氏が歌う「涙岬」はこちらがモチーフのようです。詳しくはわかりませんが、歌詞の内容が浜中の涙岬を連想させるものでした。入場無料。駐車場も無料です。

涙岩には悲しい伝説があります。昔、厚岸の青年と霧多布の娘が恋に落ちました。厚岸から霧多布に向かっていた青年の船が座礁し、海の藻屑に。その事実を知った娘は断崖絶壁に立って毎日泣いていたそうです。それが岩になったとか。断崖絶壁の上から女性の横顔をした岩が眺められます。
涙岬（乙女の涙）・立岩の物語り
涙岬、立岩を訪れると、この地の古老の話が思い出されるのである。昔、鰊（ニシン）漁が華やかなりし頃、厚岸の若者と霧多布の網元の娘が恋に落ちた物語である。ある嵐の日、厚岸から船で霧多布へ向かう時、ここまで来て座礁し、若者は海の底へ消えてしまった。それを知った娘は、この断崖に立って泣きながら、声をかぎりに若者の名前を呼び続けていたと云う。今でも、この岬を訪れると断崖に悲しい娘の顔を見ることがきる。又、立岩を訪れると、愛する娘の悲しい叫びに向かって一歩一歩、岸にたどりつこうとする若者の姿を想わせるものがある。嵐の夜には、娘の悲しい咽で泣きと、若者の恋こがれて叫ぶ声が風と共に聞えてくると云う。

When you visit Cape Tear and Tateiwa, you will be reminded of the story of an old man in this area. A long time ago, when herring fishing was brilliant, a young man from Akkeshi and Amimoto’s daughter from Kiritappu fell in love. One stormy day, when I was sailing from Akkeshi to Kiritappu, I came here and ran aground, and the young man disappeared to the bottom of the sea. The daughter who knew it, she said, she stood on this cliff and cried, and she kept calling the youth’s name as far as she could. Even now, when I visit this cape, I can see the face of my sad daughter on the cliff. Also, when you visit Tateiwa, you can imagine a young man trying to reach the shore step by step toward the sad cry of her beloved daughter. On a stormy night, her daughter’s sad throat crying and a young man’s longing and screaming can be heard with the wind.
