Vol.171[SUB/4K]

Good morning! This is E-Ma. Thank you for watching as always (´ー`). It’s early morning at Haneda Airport. I’m about to depart for New Chitose Airport. That’s right! This time, I’m traveling to Hokkaido ヽ(^o^)丿. I’m going on a 3-night, 4-day hot spring tour (´ー`). This time, I’m visiting Jozankei Hot Springs. Let’s get started!! The flight is about an hour and a half. I arrived just as I was starting to doze off (^^;). I rented a car from Mitsubishi Rent-a-Car. I got on the highway at Eniwa IC. I headed towards Sapporo. I got off the highway at Sapporo Minami IC. First, I wanted to eat ramen (*’▽’). Menya Saimi is a popular restaurant that’s featured in every guidebook. I thought I’d be able to get in before opening time, but… (´Д`). The parking lot was full, and the queue was all around the restaurant. I had anticipated something like this happening, so I looked for another nearby restaurant (´ー`). And we arrived. I was the first one there just before opening time. The restaurant was already full as soon as it opened. The exquisite salt ramen was 1,100 yen. The Shunichi miso ramen was 1,050 yen. I started with the salt ramen (´ー`). The noodles were thinner and straighter than I expected. The soup had a rich flavor, with a buttery flavor and the aroma of roasted pork (*’▽’). This is delicious (≧▽≦). Next was the miso ramen. The noodles were also medium-thin and straight. The rich miso soup was also mixed with the aroma of roasted pork, making it very delicious (≧▽≦). This is what they call deliciousness that makes you want to drink it all (*’▽’). Thank you for the meal! Since the main focus of this trip was visiting hot springs, I skipped sightseeing in Sapporo city and headed to Jozankei Onsen. Jozankei Onsen is in Sapporo city, so it looks like it will take about 40 minutes by car from the city center. We were so engrossed in our conversation that before we knew it, we were in Jozankei Onsen Town. We’d arrived at our destination. This oasis in the middle of nature houses restaurants, bakeries, and pastry shops. I can’t believe there’s such a stylish place in a hot spring town! (´ー`) Even the wooden carved bear is unique! (゚Д゚) What’s this tent-like thing? A table tennis court! (゚д゚)! This is a bakery. There were more people inside than there were breads! (´Д`) There was a foot bath in front of the bakery. This is a pastry shop. The second floor of the building is a restaurant. We looked around, but instead of eating at Yamanokaze Machi, we came to a shop across the parking lot. The sign for this soft serve ice cream is inviting, isn’t it? (*’▽’) There’s only an ordering counter inside. Pick up is at the counter outside. Premium soft serve (cup) 600 yen, strawberry milk cream 750 yen. It really feels like Hokkaido! (≧▽≦) Today, I’ve only had ramen and soft serve ice cream. It’s about time to go sightseeing. I climbed the mountain path from the hot spring town. What I’m driving on now looks like a bridge, but it’s actually a dam. I’ve arrived at the observation deck. Lake Sapporo is an artificial lake created by the Jozankei Dam, which dammed the Otarunai River. Lake Sapporo has four observation decks, but the only one I can see the dam from is the first one. I thought the leaves would be turning a little more, but it seems I was a little early (._.). So, let’s go back the way we came and head to the dam (´ー`). What’s this spray? (;・∀・). I was just driving on top of that dam. I’ve arrived at the parking lot. This is what that spray was (゚д゚)! It’s being released with great force. A rainbow! (*’▽’). This is no time to be complacent (;・∀・). I’m soaked, like I’ve just taken a shower, so I hurriedly evacuate (´Д`). I head towards the dam museum. The stairs are steep (^^;). Part of the maintenance passage within the dam embankment has been turned into a viewing corridor (cross gallery). There were photos from the construction of Jozankei Dam and panels explaining how the dam works. That building is the museum. It’s a steep climb (>_<). A diorama model of the Jozankei Dam construction is on display. On the second floor, there are easy-to-understand exhibits on the natural environment around the dam, the water supply system, and power generation. There's a dam observation deck. 20 minutes isn't enough (-_-;). There's also the trailhead to Mt. Kotengu. Looks like we might see a bear (;゚Д゚). This is a great spot for taking dam-card-style photos. We headed back to the parking lot. The season is slowly progressing. By the time we left, the release had finished. I'm glad I'd checked it out first (´ー`). Now, we headed to the hotel. The tall building you can see on the right is our hotel. Our room for the night... So far away! Room 725. It wouldn't open... Finally, it opened (^_^;). Let's go in! It's a standard twin room, but it's spacious enough. Yukata and amenities are provided. The view was from the road side. There's a spacious bathtub, but the hotel also has a large hot spring bath! After the room tour, we explored the hotel. From the first-floor lounge, we stepped onto the terrace and found a foot bath. This is a rare find in a hotel: a coffee roastery. Jozankei's specialty, Jozanbo Manju, was served as a tea snack in our room. Apparently, they're sold fresh every morning starting at 7am. The back is a shop. This is the kids' space. We arrived on the third floor, where the large bath is located. There's an izakaya on the same floor. This is a rest area. Since we had some time before dinner, we decided to take a walk around the area. "Mikaeri-zaka" (Mikaeri Hill). Apparently, it was named after the many times people would reluctantly look back as they climbed this hill after a fun time before leaving. We entered "Jozangensen Park." There was another foot bath here too. (´ー`) "Bizumi Falls." I thought it was warm, but it turned out to be hot spring water. Apparently, you can make onsen eggs here. (*'▽') A statue of Miizumi Jozan, the pioneer of Jozankei Onsen. Be careful, the hot spring here is hot to the touch (^_^;). We cross Tsukimi Bridge over the Toyohira River. Kappa? Kappa here too. We arrive at a park along the river. "Kappa Daio." Do kappas grow beards too? ( *´艸`). As we walk along the promenade, a red bridge comes into view. "Futami Tsuribashi Bridge." It's a shame the leaves aren't turning red (._.). It has a description of the kappa legend. I guess this legend is why there are so many kappa statues (´ー`). Is this a kappa too? There's a foot bath, so we take a dip. Towels are 300 yen. It's hot! Just kidding (^▽^;). It's almost lukewarm. Let's take a look at the souvenir shop. "Kappon," Jozankei Onsen's PR boss. There are plenty of kappon souvenirs (´ー`). We walk up "Yukemuri Hill" and return to the hotel. It's time for dinner (*'▽'). It's a buffet, so try not to eat too much (^_^;). As you'd expect from Hokkaido, the sashimi is gorgeous (*'▽'). We also had miso ramen. Yes! We ate way too much! (^▽^;). The two of us figured it was best to move around after eating. (≧▽≦) We went for another walk. We arrived at Jozankei Futami Park in the evening. There's actually an event being held here that's only open to guests staying at the Jozankei Onsen resort. (´ー`) We received a ticket when we checked in. It's an immersive experience featuring digital art, illuminations, and projection mapping. Produced by NAKED. The Kappa King spoke! (゚д゚)! It has a story. (・o・) The kappas invited us to explore the depths of the forest. (´ー`) When a kappa passes by, the powerful life force of nature is revealed as light, only at night. This is the energy of life dwelling in the rocks. (´ー`) The suspension bridge was the final stage. It was pitch black. (;・∀・) I stopped in my tracks, and the three-minute show began. Even though we were brought deep into the forest, the kappa went home first... But thanks to the kappas, I felt much better (´-`*). It looks like they're doing something with the foot bath. "Foot Bath Fireworks". Enjoy (´ー`). We're relaxing in the hot springs at the hotel! Next time, we'll be covering our 3-night, 4-day trip to Hokkaido, "Toyako Onsen Edition". I hope this video will be of some use to you. If you like it, please give it a like, hype it up, and subscribe to the channel! I look forward to your opinions and thoughts (´ー`). Thank you for watching until the end. Please look forward to the next one~(^_^)/~
