THE GATE HOTEL YOKOHAMA by HULIC | ザ・ゲートホテル横浜 by HULIC

[Music] I’m Shoko, a thirty-something office lady who stays in hotels over 100 nights a year. I’ll be sharing my hotel experience with you. This time, I revisited “The Gate Hotel Yokohama by HULIC,” which opened in February 2025. I released a video shortly after the hotel opened, but this time I’m reviewing a different type of room and the signature lunch, so please take a look! You can see the video filmed on the opening day from the thumbnail below. Directions to the hotel are here. For more details, please pause the video. I arrived at the hotel around 2:30 PM. I was a little hungry, so I went to the restaurant “Anchor Grill Yokohama” on the first floor. Here’s the menu. I had the “famous” GATE Yokohama pie stew. The pie was surprisingly crispy. The stew inside was light and smooth, with just the right amount of flavor. I checked in at 3:00 PM. I stayed in room 313 on the third floor . Let’s start with a room tour. This is a Modesto room. The bed is a Simmons, so you can sleep soundly. There’s an outlet and a USB Type-C port at the bedside. The pajamas were double-layered and soft and comfortable against the skin. Next to them was a height-adjustable desk and chair. The shelf contained tissues and a room phone, and the drawer contained laundry bags and receipts, making for convenient use. Below that was a laptop-sized safe. There were two outlets near the desk, but they were a bit far away. There was also an air purifier with a humidifier by the window. On the other side of the bed was a mysterious box-like object…it’s actually a refrigerator! On the shelf was a coffee machine, capsules, and water. The drawer contained a notepad and pen, a charging cable, tea bags, a tea bag tray, a spoon, and coasters. The charging cable was compatible with three types of coffee. Milk, sugar, and Pal Sweet were also included. The tea bags were TWININGS Earl Grey and Ceylon Orange Pekoe, and Chiyodaen Sencha. The bottom drawer contained mugs and glasses. An electric kettle and ice bucket were also in the bottom drawer. The trash can also had bags for sorting. There was also an emergency light here. You can check the hotel guide on the TV and use apps like YouTube. There’s also a cute, rounded full-length mirror. There’s a luggage rack at the foot. The closet is slim. Disposable slippers are provided. I’d like to check the usual softness of the slippers. There doesn’t seem to be any difference between rooms. Given the other facilities, a slightly better pair would be perfect. There’s a clothes steamer and deodorizing spray at the foot. A shoe brush, shoe cleaner, and shoehorn are also provided on the side. Opening the door reveals the bathroom. The round toilet is somehow cute! Here’s the sink. Face and hand soap is from Feed Co., Ltd. Tissues, glasses, and amenities are provided. The toothbrush has uniform bristles, and the toothpaste is small. The hairbrush has a large number of combs and cannot be folded in half. The razor is a cheap, three-blade razor, and shaving cream was also included. The hairnet seems convenient for washing your face. The cotton set contains two cotton pads and two cotton swabs. It also comes with a hand and body cream, which I love for its lovely Darjeeling tea scent. You can call the front desk to receive a skin care set. It’s Mikimoto Cosmetics Moon Pearl, and includes cleansing cream, facial wash, toner, and cream. There are two outlets in the bathroom, so I can easily heat my curling iron while using a hair dryer. A black SALONIA hair dryer was in the drawer. Towels were placed at my feet. This room only had a shower room with an overhead shower. From left to right, they were shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. The scent was Darjeeling tea, which was very soothing. I was curious about the water pressure, so I checked it. The water pressure and volume were both consistent across rooms, and both were good. You can change modes (three patterns) using the buttons on the unit. Last time, I had to change rooms because the hose was leaking, but this time it was fine. Wow, the overhead shower is nice, too. This is the last room tour, but here’s the view from my room. Hotel New Grand View!! In my previous video, I introduced the Essential Double and Classy King rooms. This time, I stayed in an Essential Double again, which has a slightly different layout, so I’ll give a brief introduction! Room 706 is on the 7th floor. This room is an Essential Double. I’ll only explain the differences from the Modest Room. Since this room can accommodate up to two people, two sets of pajamas are provided. The headboard is double-sized, so there is one USB port and one outlet on each side. There is also a table and chair, and the desk is fixed rather than height-adjustable. There are twice as many coffee capsules and water bottles. The outlets are on the desk, making it easier to charge devices. There are also twice as many tea bags and other items. The refrigerator is standard hotel size. There are also two cups. The closet is slightly larger, and there are two slippers. The sink and toilet are separated. There is a bathtub, so bath salts are provided. There is a chair-like platform at the foot. There are no other differences in the toilet other than the separate toilet. The shower area is spacious, and the bathtub is a generous size. I get anemia easily, so having a chair in the bathroom is helpful. I’d like to check out the water pressure in the shower in this room. The water pressure and volume were both perfect! The overhead shower was also nice. I ‘d also like to introduce the view from this room. It’s on the 7th floor, so you can catch a glimpse of the ocean from the window. Staying at this hotel makes you want to visit Yokohama Chinatown! The shark fin bun was 450 yen. Next, I had baked xiaolongbao (baked xiaolongbao) for 580 yen. I prefer the baked xiaolongbao I had at Pengtian Pavilion last time. The fried chicken bun was 500 yen. This was filling! It’s good value for money, but not great for eating on the go (lol) . Around 8 p.m., I got ready for bed. I filled the bathtub. Once it was full, I added bath salts. My pajamas are separate top and bottom. I had a Fruit Peaks fruit tart for dinner. You can see information about The Gate Hotels across Japan on the TV in your room. Doesn’t it look like a photo of Kyoto or Yokohama? Lol , I really liked The Gate Hotel, so I’d like to visit other locations besides Yokohama. Good morning. It’s the morning of my second day. I went for breakfast around 9:00 AM. It was a half-buffet style where you choose your main dish. It’s a bit pricey at 3,500 yen, but it’s very satisfying, so I recommend it. The buffet had a wide variety, and everything was delicious. My favorite was the soup. I also liked the fact that there were many sofa seats. I don’t usually eat breakfast, but I ended up eating a hearty meal. For the main course, you can choose from eclectic benedict, curry, or French toast. I’ve never tried curry, but the French toast is so delicious I always choose it. Apparently, you can have breakfast even if you’re not staying overnight for 3,500 yen. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. I’ve been to this hotel so many times since it opened that I’ve lost count. The day I stayed coincided with the Minato Mirai fireworks festival, so I was able to watch it from the rooftop. It was a bit far, but there were seats available, so I was able to sit and enjoy the view. Guests gather on the rooftop a little early, so we recommend reserving a seat early.
