【諏訪ひとり旅】諏訪湖を一望する部屋で癒される一泊二日の旅|諏訪大社|紅や|高島城|くらすわ|立石公園|
Today I arrived at Kami-Suwa Station in Nagano Prefecture on the Azusa Limited Express. It’s about two and a half hours from Shinjuku without transfers. There ‘s a foot bath on the platform, so you can enjoy a foot bath while watching the trains. It’s a rare station! As soon as I arrived, I couldn’t help but feel excited, as it stirred my sense of adventure! It seems that a foot bath was built at Kami-Suwa Station, a hot spring resort, as part of Nagano Prefecture’s “One Station, One Specialty” initiative . It says, “Enjoy a foot bath at Suashi (Suwa City) while watching the trains.” This is the space where hot spring eggs are made. Apparently, it was the idea of a station employee. You can really feel the hospitality. The restaurant has a retro atmosphere. First, I went for lunch. It’s a soba restaurant serving Sarashina soba. I was the first to enter. The interior has a relaxing Japanese atmosphere. I took a break… I ordered the “Three-Color Soba with Tempura,” which allows you to compare different flavors. Freshly fried tempura was also served. I started with two large shrimp, eggplant, king oyster mushrooms, green peppers, and okra ! First, I tried the inaka soba noodles in front. As expected, Nagano soba is delicious! The noodles are quite thin, but have a nice firmness and a strong flavor. I’m looking forward to trying Sarashina soba for the first time. It ‘s even thinner and more delicate. It’s smooth and fresh! The Seiro soba has a sweet taste, somewhere between inaka and Sarashina. They’re all delicious, but I liked inaka soba the best! The tempura can be eaten with salt or noodle soup, but I preferred the salted version as it had a crispier texture. The soba soup was delicious as a finishing touch! Thank you for the meal. I came here for a coffee after my meal. This cafe is known for its delicious, carefully selected coffee. The interior is decorated with light wood grain and pale colors, giving it a warm latte feel. The taste is very mild and gentle. If you’re not sure what kind of coffee to choose, the owner will suggest a flavor that suits your taste. They open from 7am, so breakfast is also great! We’ve arrived at Lake Suwa! Lake Suwa is the largest lake in Nagano Prefecture and is full of activities such as pleasure cruises, boating, and kayaking. In August, there is a fireworks display, which attracts many tourists. Lake Suwa’s pleasure cruise boats, Swan and Starmine , captain – the swan with his eyelashes and stylish bow tie. Currently, the Swan is only docked and it is not possible to ride it. In winter, many real swans fly in, and on clear, clear days you can even see Mt. Fuji . The lakeside is also a park with benches here and there, making it the perfect place for a stroll! When the lake freezes over in winter, raised streaks of ice appear, a phenomenon known as “Omiwatari.” Omiwatari originates from the mythology of Suwa Taisha Shrine . It is said to be the path the male god of the upper shrine took to reach the female god of the lower shrine. In recent years, the lake has not frozen over completely, making it impossible to see this mysterious phenomenon. I wonder when it will appear again… Along the lakeside, there is a particularly eye-catching retro building. Katakurakan was built in the Taisho era by the second president of the Katakura zaibatsu, who made his fortune in silk, as a facility for local residents to enjoy hot springs, socializing, and entertainment. The building is divided into a bathhouse with a “Senninburo” (bath for 1000 people) and a hall building that doubles as an office. This stately, retro building has been designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. These guardian lions are replicas of the guardian lions at Yasukuni Shrine, which were donated by the Katakura zaibatsu. I don’t have time to take a bath in the Senninburo, so I’ll just take a look at the hall building today. The red carpet lifts my spirits. I look at the precious antique items with interest. The building is about 100 years old. Apparently it’s still the same as it was back then , and this staircase was used for a calendar shoot for a certain idol group. The bath building and the hall building are connected, but you can’t cross them now. The biggest attraction is the 204-tatami mat large hall on the second floor. Back then it was used for weddings and award ceremonies, and it’s surprising that it’s still in use today. Looking out the window of the large hall you can see a relief of a “protective bear,” and I was delighted to find it… I was able to tour this wonderful building that exudes the romantic atmosphere of the Taisho era. “Kurasuwa” is a food-themed complex that was apparently created by the company that makes Yomeishu sake. It’s full of Nagano specialties, including my favorite oyaki and pickled nozawana, which are delicious! They also have processed products made with brand-name pork . This is the bakery and cafe I was looking for… Mini soft serve – made with Nagato Farm soft serve – the perfect place to take a break from your stroll around Lake Suwa. The milk is rich! It was a great idea to come here to eat, so it’s time to head to the hotel. Today I’m staying at Hotel Beniya, a large lakeside resort hotel. I immediately quench my thirst with a welcome drink. I’m happy to have amazake (sweet sake) from a sake brewery in Suwa . It’s cold and incredibly delicious! You can choose the color of your yukata ! My room is on the 10th floor , and there’s a basket with towels in the entrance, and a convenient space to put your luggage. The sliding door leads to the sink and toilet, and the shower room is clean and easy to use. I really wanted a room with a view of Lake Suwa, so I chose Beniya. Even though I’m alone, I splurged and got a spacious room with a modern Japanese interior. Meguri-zum is surprisingly nice. There are two types of pillows, and the pure white bedding is comfortable. The view from the window is amazing! From a high vantage point, you can see far into the distance, which is great! The majestic Lake Suwa was once plagued by water pollution, but thanks to the hard work of local residents and the local government, the situation has improved, and we are now able to enjoy this beautiful view. I couldn’t take my eyes off this view for a while. As evening approached, I hurried to a certain spot and just made it in time… It’s said that this place is the setting for the movie “Your Name.” After watching the movie, I decided I wanted to visit this place too. The sunset was overwhelming, and Lake Suwa, bathed in an orange hue, was also fantastic. I’m satisfied that I’d achieved the main goal of this trip. The night view is also beautiful… It’s sad to leave, but it’s time to go for dinner. It ‘s pitch black, so I’ll take a taxi. I always enjoy chatting with the local driver. We arrived in about 10 minutes. A beloved local chain restaurant in Nagano. It’s cheap, fast, and delicious… A Chinese restaurant where locals gather. The interior is lively, and it’s easy to enter even alone. I immediately looked at the menu. There were so many options, which one should I choose?… I went for the Tenhoumen, named after the restaurant. It’s a champon-style white soup that looks delicious! Let’s eat ! It’s guaranteed to be delicious! It contains broccoli and has a rich soup made with seafood, pork, and vegetable stock. I think everyone will love this flavor. The noodles are chewy and the soup clings to them well. I’m sure all the dishes are delicious. Thank you for the meal! They also sell fresh Tenhoumen noodles. I think I’ll buy some as a souvenir. I returned to the hotel, changed into my yukata, and headed to the hot springs. The large public bath on the top floor is quite spacious. I enjoyed a blissful time overlooking Lake Suwa. The semi-open-air bedrock bath in the annex (men and women alternate) and the private bath “The Warmth of Ceramic” The sky lounge on the top floor has a wonderful sunset view. I left the curtains wide open and said goodnight… Good morning. Breakfast was a buffet, just to add a little atmosphere… Twice cooked pork, rice noodles, meatballs, stewed chicken wings, etc. Chinese-style stew of chicken wings and shiitake mushrooms, various small side dishes of tender meat, and omelets made right in front of you. There were two types of sauce, demi-glace and tomato, which were piping hot and creamy and really delicious. Warm oyaki , vegetable sticks to try with several types of miso, freshly made rice balls , and a Western menu too. Pancakes that you can bake yourself , dessert, fruit, yogurt, all delicious food. It’s also great that there is a wide selection of vegetable dishes. Freshly made oysters are the best – so fluffy you can’t pick them up with chopsticks… Thank you for the meal! 帰りました 。 English: There are many places to see around Lake Suwa, and I would like to visit the places I missed in a different season. It ‘s also time to say goodbye to Swan. It’s a 15-minute walk from the station. This castle was built about 420 years ago by Hineno Takayoshi, a vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It was once nicknamed “Suwa’s Floating Castle” because it was located so close to Lake Suwa. It was demolished after the Meiji Restoration, and only the stone walls remain, and it is open to the public as Takashima Park. Years of restoration efforts by local residents came to fruition, and it was restored to its beautiful state in 1970. It was apparently recreated based on the testimonies of people who had seen the real thing and photographs of the castle. The wisteria flowers in the park, which are at their best in May, are estimated to be 150 years old. I will also visit the shrine on the premises, which was created to commemorate the war dead from the Suwa region. I will head to Shimo-Suwa by train
to have lunch, which I’ve been looking forward to . I’ve heard that it’s a popular restaurant with long queues, so I ‘m looking forward to it. I’m glad I made it in time for the last order of lunch… I will look at the menu and wait while being shown to my seat . I ordered the Unagi-ju [Plum]. It’s been a while since I’ve had eel since my trip to Nagoya, so I’m looking forward to it! All the dishes use domestically-produced eel, and the glossy, fragrant aroma is irresistible! The “Ume” comes with a clear soup, and the “Take” and higher dishes come with liver soup . Let’s eat! Hayashiya uses the Kanto style, steaming the eel once before grilling it, so it’s crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They also offer “jiyaki” grilling without steaming. Delicious!! The sweetness of the sauce is perfectly balanced. The condiments are wasabi and chopped green onions, and this was my first time trying white onions, which go perfectly with the eel fat!! Without a doubt, it was the most delicious eel I’ve ever had . Thank you for the meal! The whole lot was sold out after me and the next customer. On my trip to Suwa, I definitely wanted to visit Suwa Taisha Shrine, which is made up of four shrines. I decided to visit Akimiya Shrine, which is close to Jinja Station. The sacred tree, “Neiri no Sugi,” can be seen directly in front of the torii gate. Suwa Taisha Shrine is the head shrine of all Suwa shrines across the country. It has a long history and is said to have been founded over 2,000 years ago. It enshrines a god called Takeminakata no Kami. The lion statues are the largest made of bronze in Japan, and the large shimenawa in the Kagura Hall! Officially, it’s about 13 meters long and weighs an estimated 500 kg. Apparently, a new one is made for the Onbashira Festival, held once every seven years. This is “Ichino Onbashira.” Suwa Taisha Shrine, home to various myths and legends, was a relief to be able to visit safely. The water, which flows directly from the hot spring, is piping hot, a feature of hot springs. I had planned to stop by the hot spring, and I had brought a towel, but… I didn’t have enough time, so I gave up. I returned to Kami-Suwa, a shop that seems to be filled with everything I love… While waiting for my coffee to be brought, I browsed the various goods on display. Everything from household goods to warm accessories and baked goods were tastefully displayed. The interior of the shop, reminiscent of an old Japanese house, was generally illuminated in soft, warm colors , with slowly playing background music. I ordered custard pudding and hot coffee. The pudding was topped with a generous dollop of cream and a slightly firm, nostalgic pudding. The bitter caramel sauce and the gentle sweetness of brown sugar made for a relaxing time. I also flicked through a book on the table. Above all, the shop staff’s hospitality really warmed my heart… I’d like to return. We will conclude our trip to Suwa while basking in the afterglow of our journey. Thank you for watching!
