逆井城 戦国時代の建造物を忠実に復元した城 茨城県 Sakasai Castle 2025
Today, we’re heading to Sakai Castle in Ibaraki Prefecture. Sakai Castle features faithfully restored Sengoku-period buildings. First, we’ll head to Tobu Zoo Park Station in Saitama Prefecture. From the station, we’ll take a bus. Transfer to a weekday-only bus from Sakai Depot. Arrive in front of Sakai Clinic and wait for the bus. Get off at Maeyama Crossroads. From Maeyama Crossroads, it’s about a 25-minute walk to Sakai Castle. During the Sengoku period, Sakai Castle was one of the bases of the Hojo clan. After the Battle of Odawara in 1590, Sakai Castle was abandoned. Currently, Sakai Castle is maintained as a castle ruins park. Towers, walls, and gates have been restored based on excavation surveys. We’ve come close to the castle ruins. In the background, we can see the well tower tower. It’s an impressive crowned gate. We can see the two-story tower. A Sengoku-period tower has been restored. A water moat is in the background. We’ll cross the wooden bridge. It’s designed to hold cross-arrows. In front of us is the relocated Yakuimon Gate. Its appearance is different from the modern corner turrets. It is said that this Yakuimon Gate was relocated from Sekijuku Castle. We go to see the Iro Yagura (arrow tower). The Iro Yagura is about 12 meters high and served to watch over enemies. We proceed further along the earthen ramparts. We head towards the main hall. The dry landscape garden has also been restored. The gate ahead is the Yakuimon Gate we saw earlier. This main hall was restored based on excavations at Odai Castle in Ibaraki Prefecture. There is a Kannon Hall. Building inscriptions from the time of its construction in 1588 and the time of its reconstruction in 1845 have been found. A horse-drawn platform has been built. This is on the south side of the main castle. It appears to have been dug here to provide water for daily life from Kanebori Pond. The horse-drawn platform’s earthen ramparts and moat remain. We take a look from the outside. We head towards the main castle. The main castle is surrounded by a dry moat. The yaguramon gate and bridge have been restored. The bridge and yaguramon gate have been restored based on found foundation stones and postholes. It is modeled after the appearance of the castle at the end of the Sengoku period. We have reached the east side of the castle. Here, the earthworks are bent to allow for cross arrows. The earthworks and dry moat remain intact. There is a stone monument of Sakai Castle. This is the dry moat on the east side of the main castle. Thank you for watching.
