I didn’t have a chance to go far from Osaka, but I was able to stop by on my way home from the ice show at Kinoshita Academy Ice Arena. On April 20, 2024, I went to Kinoshita Academy Kyoto Ice Arena in Uji to see the ice show Bloom on Ice. I go to see it every year, but I’m disappointed that it won’t be held in 2025😢I went to the Ice Arena from JR Uji Station by taking the ice show shuttle bus (500 yen). The event is held every year just when the wisteria at Byodo-in Temple is beautiful (you can watch the video in the summary section).I saw a lot of wisteria last year, so this year I decided to go to Uji City Botanical Park by passing through Taiyogaoka Park next to the Ice Arena! Looking at the map, I thought I would be able to reach the botanical garden if I continued through Taiyo Park, so I started walking easily, but it was quite a distance😅It wasn’t a bad idea to walk while checking out Taiyo Park, but since I started walking at 2:40pm after the ice show, I didn’t have enough time to see the botanical garden😅It ‘s a really huge park. This is a quote from the Kyoto Prefecture website regarding Yamashiro Sports Park (Taiyogaoka) (regional park). For the 43rd National Athletic Meet (Kyoto National Athletic Meet) held in 1985, Yamashiro Sports Park was the main venue for the summer competition. It is affectionately known as “Taiyougaoka”. Boasting the largest area of ​​any city park in the prefecture, the park has a good environment that harmonizes with extensive facilities and lush nature. It consists of a hilly area with an altitude of 80 to 150 meters adjacent to the Uji city area, and is a sports park with facilities such as a gymnasium, track and field, baseball field, ball game field, tennis court, and pool, and can be used for a wide variety of sports and competitions. In addition, in the zone where natural forests are preserved, you can enjoy a vast and rich natural environment, including the “Adventure Forest” with athletic play equipment, the “Play Forest”, “Fureai no Mori”, and “Furusato no Mori”, which are popular with children, as well as the “first” inclusive playground equipment in a prefectural park. Due to its location on a small hill, the view is outstanding. Another appeal is that you can enjoy sports and recreation to your heart’s content in a refreshing environment surrounded by natural forests . Additionally, various sports classes and events are held throughout the year. As it is also connected to a bus route, it is a popular day-trip recreation area for residents of the prefecture, and is used by over 1.3 million people a year. A vast park full of nature. There are many facilities and it is a place for Uji citizens to relax. I wouldn’t have been able to take a closer look if I hadn’t had this opportunity, so I’m glad I walked recklessly. We have arrived at Uji City Botanical Garden! It was 3:40 pm, an hour after I started walking. The park closes at 17:00, but you can enter until 16:00. It was just the last minute 😅 without the sun crossing the hill from the ice arena 😆 Access if you come normally is as follows. [By Kintetsu train] Get off at Okubo Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, then take the Kyoto Keihan Bus 240/240A bound for Keihan Uji, or 250/250A bound for Keihan Uji, JR Obaku Station, and get off at the Botanical Park stop. [For Keihan Railway/JR] Get off at Keihan “Uji Station” or JR Nara Line “Uji Station”. Take Kyoto Keihan Bus 240, 240A, 250A bound for “Kintetsu Okubo” and get off at “Botanical Garden” stop. Uji City Botanical Garden is a very beautiful botanical garden, but I don’t think many people come here from Osaka, so I didn’t have enough time, but I’m glad I was able to come after the ice show. Uji City Botanical Garden is a botanical park of approximately 10ha located to the west of Taiyogaoka. (From the Botanical Park website) Inside the greenhouse, there are about 650 types of tropical and subtropical plants, including the three sacred trees of Buddhism, while outside there are about 800 types of plants, including cherry blossoms and plants that appear in The Tale of Genji. There is also a green rest area (greenhouse), flower plaza, and herb garden. “Flower and Water Tapestry” is a facility that represents Japan’s largest three-dimensional flower bed main garden. Approximately 3,675 planters will be lined up and painted with themes and character designs related to Uji City on a magnificent 62m wide and 18m high doll platform (46 tiers). Urban greenery plays an important role in maintaining a better environment as urbanization progresses, and is indispensable for creating a peaceful and enriching living space. For this reason, Uji City proceeded with the construction of a botanical park, which opened in 1996, as a base for “green culture” to create a rich and comfortable urban environment . The park has a variety of facilities, including a greenhouse where you can enjoy tropical and subtropical plants, a tapestry of flowers and water, and a flower garden, where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and greenery. There seem to be zones divided by season, so I’ll go to the spring zone. April is the best time to see double cherry blossoms, flower pods, mokko roses, north balls, and tulips. After this, enjoy the beautiful spring flowers. After staying for less than an hour, we left the botanical park at 4:30 pm and had an early dinner at the stylish restaurant “chou-cho” next door . Business hours are from 11:00 to 21:00, so you can eat at any time, which is convenient. Of course, I will go home by bus. 宇治市植物公園と京都府立山城総合運動公園 (太陽が丘)に行きました。
木下アカデミー京都アイスアリーナで２０２４年のブルームオンアイスを見た後、太陽が丘を横切って、宇治市植物公園に行ったのですが、太陽が丘が広大すぎて、時間が足りませんでした。
それでも、八重桜の季節の植物公園の春のゾーンは大変美しく、見晴らしもよくて、行った甲斐がありました。大阪からはなかなか行く機会がないので、今回いけてよかったです。

２０２１、２０２２、２０２３の動画を過去にアップしていますが、今回は２０２４年のブルームオンアイスのフィナーレの画像を植物公園の画像の後につけていますが、上手く撮れてないのでよければご覧くださいという感じです。
２０２５年は開催されないということで残念ですね。
