Hello! Welcome back to my channel! I’m at Yokohama Station today for an errand. I came down to the underground shopping mall in front of the West Exit of JR Yokohama Station and found this tea specialty café. It’s been around since 1974! I decided to come here because it was featured on a popular Japanese TV show in October. I ordered the scone set for ¥1,430, which includes their famous iced royal milk tea and scones. Let’s try this iced royal milk tea first. Wow, this is a flavor of royal milk tea I’ve never tasted before! It has a rich aroma and is delicious. It’s a special blend made with Chinese black tea, bergamot, and brandy-infused cream. I ordered it with sugar. The ice in the glass is hand-crushed in the café. Next, I’ll try the café’s signature scone. It’s very hot. I’m going to add some cream and jam. The scone is moist and satisfying. It goes perfectly with the royal milk tea. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a delicious meal alone at a long-established cafe. In Japan, it’s very common for people to eat alone at cafes. I heard people around me talking about the TV show that brought them here. It’s time to leave. When I came in, the shop was empty, but now there’s a long line. It’s only 1 p.m. on a weekday. 📍TOM CAT BAKERY
I took the underground passage and came to this bakery on the B1 floor of CIAL Yokohama. This bakery, which supplies bread to high-end hotels and restaurants in New York, has finally opened its first store in Japan. I decided to visit because I saw it on a TV show. They also have a seating area. It’s conveniently located right next to the JR Yokohama Station ticket gates. IC card only. I bought the NY Apple Cheese for ¥360. It’s a soft bread filled with plenty of cream cheese and apples. I also got the Cat Pretzel for ¥300. It has a wonderful aroma and is chewy with just the right amount of salt. The Dumbo Focaccia with Olives is huge! It’s filled with chopped olives and is so delicious that I finished it in no time. Day2
Yokohama Station I decided to take a walk today to clear my head, so I came to Yokohama. I’m heading to the East Exit of JR Yokohama Station. I plan to spend about 3 hours walking around Yokohama today. Taking the escalator down, I arrived at the underground shopping mall, Yokohama Porta. My destination is the bus terminal. After passing through the underground mall, I arrived at Sogo department store. Going up the escalator next to it, I realized I was on the B1 floor. This is a huge bus terminal! The bus I want to take leaves from platform A-4. Let’s see, where is platform A? I usually take the train when I come to Yokohama, so I’m looking forward to seeing the city from the bus. I’ll take the stairs for a little workout instead of the elevator. It’s shorter than I thought. If bus stop No.2 is here, then No.4 must be to the right. Ah, there it is, number 4. The timetable is on a touch panel. Since I have a bit of time, I’ll go back down the stairs and stop by the nearby Seven Eleven. It’s convenient to have one here. I’m back at the bus stop. I’m going to take the Bayside Blue bus to get to the tourist spot. This line runs about twice an hour, so I recommend checking the timetable beforehand. There are two bus lines that stop at platform 4. For the Bayside Blue bus, we need to line up against the wall. Fares are paid in advance (both cash and IC cards are accepted). This is my first time riding an articulated bus. It’s amazing how drivers can handle such a long vehicle. I’ve been interested in this bus for a long time. It’s time to start. The driver just said, “This bus is 18 meters long. 4This bus is 2 meters longer than a 40-foot container trailer.” It’s incredible that someone can drive a bus that’s longer than a container truck. The famous The Kahala Hotel & Resort, known in Hawaii, the US opened in Yokohama in 2020. It’s a luxurious hotel. This is Pacifico Yokohama. It’s well-known as a venue for concerts and events. The next bus stop is the entrance to the Cup Noodles Museum. Speaking of Minato Mirai, this famous hotel comes into view when you turn the corner. It’s the Cup Noodles Museum Yokohama where you often see tourists holding their own custom-made Cup Noodles. The Cup Noodles Museum is just around the corner, but I’m going to save that for another day when I can go with someone. Look at this cool place! According to Google Maps, it’s a barbecue spot right next to the sea. They also have a cafe. I’ll keep walking without stopping at the cafe. There’s a whole fleet of rental bikes lined up. The red brick warehouses are over there on the right. I’m currently at the spot marked with a red pin. On my left, I can see Marine and Walk Yokohama. This is my first destination. I often see people walking their dogs around here. It’s only a 3-4 minute walk from the bus stop where I got off. It’s a 10-minute walk from Makado Station on the Minatomirai Line.
It’s a 12-minute walk from Minatomirai Station on the Minatomirai Line.
It’s a 15-minute walk from Sakuragicho Station on the JR Line. There are restaurants and shops here. And look, there’s a ticket counter for the Seabass water bus. Let’s check out the Seabass route and boarding area. On the second floor of Hammerhead, there’s a confectionery called Ariake Harbour. It was founded in Yokohama in 1954 and is famous as a popular souvenir from Yokohama. Their signature product is the marron cake shaped like a boat. In this store, you can purchase a special “my harbor” package with an image taken by this machine. I’m also interested in their limited-edition financier. I’ll wait a bit for the freshly baked one. Bought it! The financier is still warm. Next, I’m going to this shop. 📍KURUMICCO FACTORY
It’s famous for its Kurumicco, a popular souvenir from Kamakura. You can watch the production process here. I wanted to buy some Kurumicco, but they were sold out! It’s a delicious treat with a perfect combination of caramel, butter, and walnuts. By the way, this store has a limited-edition package that you can only get at the Yokohama Hammerhead location. (I took a picture of it last time.) I wanted a coffee, so I came to this cafe. It’s a local coffee roaster that originated in Yokohama. I got it to go. I’ll enjoy my coffee on the terrace. This large crane is called the Hammerhead Crane. It was built in 1914 and is Japan’s first dedicated harbor cargo handling crane. It’s a symbol of Shin-ko Wharf, which has watched over the port city of Yokohama. Iced caramel latte, small size, ¥520. Enjoying my coffee with this beautiful view. Freshly baked harbor financier, ¥300 (to go). I bought three more. The buttery aroma is irresistible. It’s so rich and flavorful. This caramel latte is delicious too. I wish I had ordered a larger size. Driving an articulated bus looks incredibly difficult. As an inexperienced driver who hasn’t driven in over 15 years, I have so much respect for bus drivers. Is that boat a Sea Bass? Since I came all the way to Yokohama, should I take a ride? But I feel like walking today, so maybe next time. The 3rd to 5th floors of Hammerhead are InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8. 📍 MARINE & WALK YOKOHAMA
I crossed the street to the commercial complex next door. It’s a stylish spot by the sea with various shops. I’ll check out COS. The wall with the painted wings is a popular photo spot. The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse was built as a national warehouse between the late Meiji and early Taisho periods. Inside, it’s bustling with various shops. There’s a parking lot where tour buses can stop, and you can see many foreign tourists. Events are often held in the plaza between Building 1 and Building 2. Today, there’s an event going on. After leaving the Red Brick Warehouse, I’ll continue my walk towards Yamashita Park. This view is amazing! Walking from Yamashita Park towards the Red Brick Warehouse is a classic route, but I’m going the opposite way. In the distance, you can see Osanbashi Pier and the Yokohama Bay Bridge. I kept walking in the opposite direction of the classic route. I’ll take a short break on this bench. That’s the Hikawa Maru, a cargo passenger ship built in 1930 for the Seattle route. It’s closed today. It’s a nationally designated important cultural property and is open to the public as the NYK Hikawa Maru. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from Yamashita Park. It’s around 3 p.m. on a weekday, but Yokohama Chinatown is crowded with students on school trips and tourists from Japan and abroad. It’s a bit quieter around here. It’s been about an hour since I left Hammerhead, so I’m ready for some tea. I came to my favorite tea house, but it looks busy. They sell Chinese tea and teawares, and the second floor is a tea house where you can enjoy Chinese tea and food. Oh, the tea house uses a numbered ticket system! There’s an 8-group wait, so I’ll just do some shopping. Here’s what I bought. It’s an original tea that’s almost entirely herbal. I always buy it when I come here. Dried mandarin oranges are the perfect snack with tea. I’ll enjoy some mooncakes at home with my tea. I’ve arrived in Motomachi. Many shops are closed today as it’s a weekday. This is a long-established lace specialty store founded in 1901 as a silk exporter. I bought two towel handkerchiefs. The lace on the edges, woven by artisans, is elaborate and has many enthusiastic fans. In addition to standard items, seasonal and collaboration limited editions are also popular. This is the end of my Yokohama walking vlog. Thank you for watching until the end! Likes and your comments are a great encouragement for my video production!
