【東京 柴又】寅さんでおなじみの風情がある街並み散策と堀切菖蒲園の菖蒲まつりに行ってきました

I went to Shibamata in Katsushika Ward , which is attractive for its atmospheric scenery. I strolled through the nostalgic streets and enjoyed the hydrangeas and irises in full bloom at Horikiri Iris Garden . I got off at Shibamata Station on the Keisei Kanamachi Line. Shibamata is a tourist destination that is relatively easy to access from Haneda Airport and Narita Airport. The station building is also retro and cute. In front of Shibamata Station, known as the setting for the movie “Otoko wa Tsurai yo,” there is a statue of the main character, “Tora-san the Futen no Tora,” looking back at his hometown before setting off on his journey. This is a statue of Tora-san’s sister, “Sakura,” who is said to be seeing Tora-san off. There were many delicious-looking shops around the station. The weather is nice, so I feel like eating shaved ice. I decided to have it at this shop. [Kamakura Sweets Shop] This is a popular warabimochi specialty shop that has branches in Kamakura and Asakusa and has expanded overseas . There were many types of warabimochi drinks, including seasonal limited items and items made with fruit . Warabimochi is also a good souvenir♪ It seems that you can add toppings when eating in the store. Matcha and roasted green tea drinks look delicious♪ There are a wide variety of shaved ice, so it’s hard to decide which one to choose♪ The interior of the store is stylish and relaxing, with a Japanese modern feel. The black sesame warabimochi is also rare. I ordered the popular matcha warabimochi and matcha kintoki shaved ice. You can add toppings such as condensed milk and warabimochi to your liking . I also recommend the kinako warabimochi that I tried. The matcha shaved ice uses “Tenkuu no Matcha” and is topped with special matcha syrup prepared in-house, which goes well with the Hokkaido red beans that are served with it. It was delicious with a refreshing sweetness that is perfect for summer. Matcha kinako warabimochi (2 pieces) They asked me if I wanted black syrup on it. It was very filling, chewy and delicious. This is a recommended shop for strolling around Shibamata in the summer. Thank you for the meal♪ While I was walking around, I found a monument of Tora-san here too. [Ojigi Chaya] The handmade menu is cute♪ [Shibamata Haikara Yokocho] The retro exterior is very nice♪ There are many nostalgic games and snacks inside the store, which is very fun to look at. I bought some sauce rice crackers♪ When you cross the main street, the approach to the shrine spreads out and it had a very charming atmosphere. [Funabashi-ya] A kuzumochi shop that has been in business since 1805 (Bunka 2). Not only souvenirs, but you can also eat and drink inside the shop, and it seems they also serve light meals. [Takagiya Osho] A shop with a charming building built in the Meiji and Taisho eras
, famous for its kusadango and rice crackers [ Kaneko-ya] A hand-baked rice cracker shop founded in the Taisho era [Ishii] Shibamata’s oldest wooden store built at the end of the Edo period, handmade kuzumochi and authentic Japanese sweets shop, roll cakes are also popular [Toraya] The current building was rebuilt in 1989. Founded in 1887, this is the place where the movies “Otoko wa Tsurai yo” were filmed as the family home from the first to fourth movies. The specialty is Kusadango, which can be enjoyed inside the shop. The most popular dish is the street-style ramen that has been around since the early Showa period. [Asanoya Senbei Shop] This shop sells rice crackers that are handmade from the dough. [Kameido Masumoto Suzushiro-an Shibamata Shop] This shop offers the specialty Shibamata udon and handmade bento sweets. Tamagoyaki is a popular snack to eat while walking. After a stroll around Shibamata, we headed to Horikiri Shobuen Station on the Keisei Line to see the irises and hydrangeas in full bloom. It was fun to experience the festival atmosphere from the station. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the station to Horikiri Shobuen, but there are many signs to guide you, so it’s easy to find. As you walk, you will come across “Hydrangea Street,” surrounded by hydrangeas on both sides of the road . It had rained the day before, so the colorful hydrangeas illuminated by the raindrops were very beautiful. There were many types of hydrangeas I had never seen before, so it was a lot of fun to stroll around. Every June, the irises are in full bloom and the Iris Festival is held. Admission is free from 9am to 5pm (closed on Mondays). There are about 6,000 irises of 200 varieties in the garden,
and the names of each type are displayed. The irises are vibrant and beautiful, with purple, wisteria, pink, white, and yellow flowers. Entering the main gate, to the left are the Water Lily Pond and Iris Pond, where lotus flowers are in bloom. In addition to the iris season, Horikiri Iris Garden also has water fringes and water lilies that bloom from early summer to September, and you can see the yellow water fringes on the water. Plum Blossoms Horikiri Iris Garden is a recommended spot that can be visited in a short amount of time, even when combined with nearby tourist spots such as Shibamata and Asakusa . Please go and visit it♪
