[Zao Onsen]
Zao Onsen features a strongly acidic sulfur spring which is characterized by milky white water and boasts one of some of the highest levels of hot spring acidity in all of Japan!
This onsen is one of the oldest in Japan dating back over 1900 years and is fondly nicknamed the “birthplace of beauties” in Japanese due to the rejuvenating effects that the baths have on one’s skin. The hot spring baths also have an anti-bactericidal effect on the skin that will leave you silky smooth!
[Kaminoyama Onsen]
Kaminoyama Onsen is flushed with alkaline sodium, calcium-chloride, sulfate and other nourishing minerals that are so gentle on the skin that even babies can enter with peace of mind!
The bath is crystal clear with a weak scent and it has high heat-retaining and moisturizing effects that are said to repair skin damage and relax tense muscles.
・ Zao Onsen Ski Resort
Zao is Tohoku’s largest ski resort and after carving the fresh powder all day, nothing beats warming your cold body in a steamy hot spring bath that will melt your muscle fatigue away like an ice cube in hot tea!
・ Takayudou
This Onsen coordination shop handles high-quality items for you to get the most out of your hot springs experience and those to come! Feel free to ask the shop’s concierge for suggesting and for help organizing your trip as the staff members are all local experts!
・ Sake Museum

At the Yamagata Sake Museum you can learn about sake, buy sake and of course enjoy sake!
Have you heard about the skin-beautifying effects of sake? If not then you are missing out!
* Please be careful when taking a bath after drinking.
・ Kurort
Relax and tranquilize with some climate terrain therapy that utilizes the hot springs and natural terrain to rejuvenate your body. Kurort health walking is based on the German medical treatment method carried out by experts who are well trained in the practice. After walking, soak in the hot springs to heal your tiredness and
experience the synergistic effect of exercise and hot spring bathing!
・ Umayado
