Autumn in Nagano is breathtakingly beautiful. This time, we have come to Minowa Koyo Lake. This place has been selected as the top spot for autumn foliage by Japanese people for several years in a row. Walking through a tunnel of autumn leaves. The leaves on both sides spread out like a beautiful picture scroll. It feels like we’ve wandered into the world of an autumn fairy tale. Not only can you enjoy the autumn leaves, but you can also enjoy delicious gourmet food. We headed to the Daio Wasabi Farm. This is Japan’s largest wasabi tourism farm. The flavor of freshly grated wasabi is surprisingly delicious. It will definitely surprise your taste buds. Would you like to embark on a journey of autumn foliage and gourmet food in Nagano with us? Let’s set off! Good morning, everyone. After visiting Lake Tateshina yesterday, it started to rain. So we stayed at a hotel near Lake Suwa. We stayed at “Route Inn.” It’s quite a good hotel, and the breakfast is very luxurious. Plus, you can enjoy hot springs as well. This morning, we went to a lakeside park near the hotel. This lake is Lake Suwa. It’s the largest lake in Nagano Prefecture. We have arrived at Suwa Lake Park. The lake’s circumference is about 15 kilometers. They also offer rental bicycles here, and you can enjoy cycling. You can cycle around the lake. If you live near here, you can also jog by the lake in the morning. Anyway, I recommend the hotel we stayed at today. Route Inn. It’s very affordable, and the breakfast is delicious. Next, we’ll head to a place where we can see the entire Lake Suwa. It’s called Tateishi Park. It’s located on a small hill. It’s very beautiful. Let’s head there. We’ve arrived at Tateishi Park. It’s really beautiful. From here, you can see the entire Lake Suwa. This place is also associated with a famous Japanese manga. It’s similar to a scene from “Your Name.” Next, we came to a tourist spot called Koyo Lake. There are a lot of autumn leaves here. This is JALAN, a famous Japanese tourism website. It has been ranked as the top spot for autumn leaf viewing for three consecutive years. There are traffic restrictions during the autumn foliage season here. We came before the traffic restrictions started. When visiting, I recommend checking the traffic restriction status on the official Minowa City website. Otherwise, you might not be able to enter by car. Now, we are walking through the tunnel of autumn leaves. The autumn leaves are planted on both sides. Some are beginning to change colors. These have turned red. The leaves in the previous area are turning a deeper red. We’re now at Suehiro Plaza. It becomes a parking lot during the autumn season. Wow, this tree has turned very red. This side is red. The other side is green. It’s really unfortunate, but this year has been a warm autumn. Right now, the leaves here are only about 20-30% colored. When they turn fully red, it will be very beautiful. I’ll show you the full bloom status on the official website. I’ll show you how it looks when the autumn leaves are at their peak. During the autumn season, there is also a night lighting event here. Admission is free. However, be aware of the traffic restrictions. During the traffic restriction period, you cannot enter by private car without prior application. During the period of traffic restrictions, you cannot enter by private car unless you apply in advance. Otherwise, you must use the shuttle bus. We came here on October 30th. According to the official website, the traffic restrictions begin on November 1st. This is the hiking trail around Koyo Lake. We parked our car here in the morning. Then we walked along this path for a full loop. It took about an hour. Now, we have arrived at Takeo Plaza. There are shops selling local specialties here. Let’s go inside. These specialty shops are small. They sell products in small vehicles. Here, they sell tomato pizza, Italian pasta, and crepes. They also sell coffee and meat buns here. This shop sells apples. Apples. Matsutake rice. We decided to try matsutake rice here. It is the matsutake season now. I saw matsutake yesterday. Three of them cost about 8,000 to 9,000 yen. Here is the matsutake rice. There are a few slices of matsutake in it. Let my father try it. It’s a taste test. Please try it. Hmm~~ It’s delicious. How is it? What does it taste like? It tastes like mushrooms. The apples we saw earlier were super cheap. A big one cost 30 Taiwanese dollars. We quickly bought two and ate them. Now, my father is peeling an apple. It is very big. It might be sold for 80 to 100 yuan in Taiwan. Is it delicious? It’s very crispy. Koyo Lake ends here. What I recommend to everyone is, if you have a chance to visit Nagano in early November, you should add this sightseeing spot to your travel list. It will be very beautiful during the peak season. Let’s head to the next sightseeing spot. The next sightseeing spot is where we arrived at, Daio Wasabi Farm. This farm is the largest wasabi farming site in Japan. We’ll have lunch here. There’s a famous set meal. It’s the wasabi set meal. I’ll let you try it later. For lunch today, we’ll eat at this restaurant called Daio-an. What it’s famous for is the wasabi set meal. This is the wasabi rice. This is what we just ordered. You can also order wasabi soba. Let’s try eating it later. This is hot soba. And this is fresh wasabi. I will grate it myself now. How is it? Is it spicy? It’s definitely spicy. When you add it to rice, it might not be as spicy. Add these ingredients to the rice, then mix in the wasabi. This is what it looks like after mixing. It actually tastes really good. Another thing to note is there are many foreign group tourists at this tourist spot. Therefore, during lunchtime, you may have to wait a bit if you encounter group tourists. It’s best to arrive before lunchtime if possible. This is the map of the wasabi farm. This area is the restaurant area. There are also wasabi fields here. I will show you around later. Have you ever seen a wasabi field? This is what it looks like. It’s all grown in water. Wasabi roots need to be grown in clean water below 15°C. It’s very sensitive to its growing environment. They pay great attention to the water quality and soil quality. Fresh wasabi The thick ones are 1400 yen. The slightly thinner ones are 1200 yen. The small ones are 1000 yen. They also sell wasabi ice cream here. This concludes the introduction of the Daiou Wasabi Farm. This is Oide Park. From here, you can see the Hakuba Three Mountains. In Oide Park, you can see this view. There is a snowy view of the Hakuba Three Mountains behind a small river. If you come in spring, let’s look at the front. I think it’s here. We’ve arrived. Here it is. The Hakuba Three Mountains are here. They are hidden by clouds. There is a suspension bridge over there. Let’s walk a little. Hakuba is a famous ski resort area. In the distance, you can see one of the ski resorts in the Hakuba area (Happo-one).
