冬のサロマ湖 Lake Saroma in winter
北海道のサロマ湖は、オホーツク海沿岸の北見市常呂町、常呂郡佐呂間町、紋別郡湧別町にまたがる汽水湖(淡水と海水が交わっている湖)としては、国内最大である。面積は約152 ㎢で、北海道内で最も大きな湖であり、国内では琵琶湖、霞ヶ浦に次いで日本で3番目に大きい。長さ26 kmにも及ぶ砂州でオホーツク海と仕切られているが、漁港もあり砂州の切れ目(湖口)から漁船が行き来している。北海道に多くあるカルデラ湖のように付近に高い山々はないが、場所によって様々な湖の表情を観ることができる。この映像は2025年1月中旬に撮影したもので、全面結氷前である。例年では1月下旬に全面結氷となる。
Lake Saroma in Hokkaido is a lake that straddles Kitami City, Saroma Town, and Yubetsu Town on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. With an area of approximately 152 km2, it is the largest lake in Hokkaido and the third largest in Japan after Lake Biwa and Lake Kasumigaura. This footage was taken in mid-January 2025 and is not completely frozen over. Normally, it freezes over completely in late January.
