Dum is a local name for the Malaysian/Singaporean checkers board game.
Board: The game is played on a 144-square board.
Pieces: Each player has 30 pieces.
Movement: Un-promoted pieces can only move and capture forward. A promoted piece (king) can move like a chess bishop and capture a piece anywhere along its line of movement.
Turns: Players take turns moving one piece per turn.
Capturing: Players must capture the maximum number of pieces possible on their turn. If a player fails to capture a piece, they must forfeit it.
Jumping: Players can jump over enemy pieces to capture them. If a player can jump, they must do so, even if it's at a disadvantage. Players can make multiple jumps in a single turn if there's an unoccupied square after each jump.
Piece removal: A jumped piece is removed from the board at the end of the turn.
