17日夜は「中秋の名月」。中部地方各地は、雲の少ないお月見日和となった。岐阜市木田の堤防の上では真ん丸の月が、金華山山頂の岐阜城の背後から昇っていく光景が見られた。残暑厳しい中だが、「月と城の競演」は夜空を見上げる人たちを魅了した。中秋の名月は、月見をする習わしの旧暦8月15日夜に見える月。
The night of the 17th was the harvest moon. The weather across the Chubu region was perfect for moon-viewing with few clouds. From the embankment in Kida, Gifu city, a full moon could be seen rising behind Gifu Castle at the top of Mount Kinka. Despite the lingering heat of summer, the “competition between the moon and the castle” enchanted those gazing up at the night sky. The harvest moon is the moon that can be seen on the night of August 15th of the lunar calendar, which is the day when moon-viewing is customary.
