⁴ᴷ Shiga: Otsu Station (滋賀県: 大津駅) – Japan Walking Tour (December, 2024)
It’s getting colder, so I decided to head west. I planned to visit the major cities of Shikoku, so I crossed the sea and landed in Wakayama from Tokushima, passed through Osaka, and now I’ve made it to Shiga Prefecture. I’m gradually getting closer to Tokyo.
I’ve come to Otsu City from Kusatsu City. Otsu is by far the most populous city in Shiga Prefecture, but its bustling areas are somewhat scattered. So where do people go for a drink? It seems like many head to Kyoto. Still, since the old Tokaido road runs through here and this city has flourished for a long time, the local shopping streets have a nice atmosphere. Once night falls, though, there are hardly any people walking around.
