This time, we took a stroll around Keihan Kayashima Station in Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture, to introduce the sacred tree of Kayashima Station. Kayashima Station is famous for the giant camphor tree that pierces through the station platform and roof. This camphor tree is estimated to be 700 years old and is cherished by the locals as the “guardian deity of the station.”
📍 About the Sacred Tree of Kayashima Station In the center of the platform at Keihan Kayashima Station, a giant camphor tree grows through the station roof. This camphor tree is the sacred tree of Kayashima Shrine, standing about 20 meters tall with a trunk circumference of about 7 meters. During the elevated quadruple track construction of the Keihan Main Line in 1972, the tree was preserved in its current form due to the requests of local residents.
