Misasa Onsen and Mitokusan (Mount Mitoku) are listed as “Japan Heritage” sights.
Mitokusan, also a National Park, is on the Japan Heritage list as a land of “rokkon shojo” which means “purification of the six roots of perception”. This happens while you climb the mountain.
Combined with Mitokusan, Misasa Onsen (hot springs were discovered 850 years ago) is listed as a land of “rokkan chiyu” which means healing of the six senses (5 senses + mind) because Misasa’s hot springs have great benefits for health.
