Our family is wrapping up a 3-week, 11-flight trip in Southeast Asia, beginning ending through Singapore. As we head home, we’re flying Singapore Airlines into Changi and flying United back out. Obviously, we’re curious to see just how these two airlines stack up. As Premier 1k flyers, United definitely has our loyalty, but everything we’ve heard about Singapore’s flight experience has us wondering if there’s a better way to travel into and out of Asia. So let’s get checked in… and check it out.

ABOUT US.
We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil’s ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week—from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.
Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline—it’s just the new, global way of life.
Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.
We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

Lol is there even a need for comparison? It's an insult to SIA!!!
As an owner of a Acura NSX. I agree with you 100% 😅
Definitely Singapore airlines is far better then United…
husband back with another airline story – two in fact. Perhaps 3nd trip to Cebu, about 1980 – 42 years ago. Flying PAL ( Philippines always late )
From Seattle to SF, Calif. to get on PAL, I had a pair of pliers, two screwdrivers in my hand carry to give to my wife's mother as she has no tools at all
in her little house. In Calif. the plane was already 3 hours late, getting ready to board, my tools were found by a scanner. OH you can't take these on, you
might try to dismantle the plane. Remember this is 42 years ago. Next story, same airline – heading home to the U.S. , we have a couple of the fancy
blinking Christmas lights and wanted to put them in the overhead compartment. OH, you can't do that, why you might unwrap them ( in the isle ) and use
the cord to try to strangle some one. ??????? True Story – Where have I heard the phrase – oh yes Biden
This video is a Joke. Comparing a regional SQ flight to a long haul UA flight and I would argue that SQ still was better minus the seat. I will SQ had a US based airline cause I would never fly US airlines again!
As a Vlogger please speak the true.
Did you mixed the chili with the noodles? Thats the local way of eating hokkien mee
Is not really neccessary for premium economy for singapore as is a short haul flight from philips to singa. If u look at some of the longer distance flight out of south east asia there is premium economy
Also, if not for the merger of silkair, u most likely will be flying that airline back home
You were probably on the 737, used for short haul flights. The newer, larger aircraft used for long haul are a lot different in terms of experience. Should try them out some day. Great and informative video anyways, thanks for sharing your experience!
Omg the food in UN is no where close to SIA
there is no comparing SQ to united … it's like comparing a new modern car with one from the 90s (and i won't be surprised if this describes the difference in ages of the aircraft as well). also, you cant ever compare food out of the us with any country. it is always going to be crappier. also i think the no.1 airport in the world is in doha. or perhaps they are citing different sources.
Singapore airlines, Emirates and Qatar airlines wins hands down.
I love Singapore Airlines Business class and first class suites. The first class suites is awesome. Sadly they don’t use A380 for flights to USA
Singapore Airlines FTW, Murican Airlines cannot compete, they all just worse lol 🤣
Avoid United at all costs! Worlds worst airline!
Very good presentation! You guys are soo fun to watch!
I’m sorry, but in order to do a fair comparison you need to do it with the same product. Both SQ and UA do the San Francisco route, so you should have compared the economy class or against each other (or premium vs premium). Also, your SQ flight was a regional product (737 Max), not on their long haul A350. Try next time to fly to Singapore on SQ and back on UA and you will conclude that SQ is best against any US or European carrier.
BTW, if you are Star Alliance Gold, which I assume you are, you can visit any Star Alliance lounge in the world even if traveling coach. Cheers!
Nice comparison video. But I wouldn’t compare Singapore Airlines Short Haul Economy Class to United Airlines Long Haul.
The Singapore Airlines flight you took is a 737Max, ie a narrow body aircraft, used solely for short haul. Fun fact, it is one of the few, if not only airline that offers flat bed and throne seats ie 1-1 configuration in a short haul flight. Perhaps, next time you should try Singapore Airlines A350 Premium Economy seat from JFK and compare it to United Airlines Premium Economy in this video. It’s the world’s longest flight, probably good content for YouTube!
If we really want to compare Singapore’s Short Haul flight, that would be to compare it against United Airlines domestic flights. I have taken domestic flights with United Airlines. To be honest, it’s quite horrible. The best domestic I feel are Alaskan and JetBlue.
Bye team ABC! See you guys again soon. 😍
Singapore is not in the Philippines it's it's own country
United has no Cognac in Y but SIA does
The World is One Big Classroom and happy to say you are your Kids Teachers
Peace ✌️ ☮️ and Love ❤️
No mask required there?
On international flights where they require everyone to wear facemasks I like to put the headphones on and then put the elastic around the headphones so that it doesn't make my ears sore and it's almost like I'm not wearing anything covering my face. I remember the last time that I flew on PAL from Manila to Los Angeles and as soon as we took off I put a movie on and the next thing that I remembered the movie was over. I was glad that I had a window seat so that I could rest my head against it. Most of the time I don't sleep very much when I fly but that time I probably had about 8 hours of sleep because I was just so tired. Thankfully it' is only about an hour drive from LAX to Anaheim. March 24th we are going back to the Philippines and I am excited to be going back again after leaving on October 10, 2020 during the crazy pandemic.
