空が真っ赤に燃えるわけでもなく、
見事な光芒が現れるわけでもない。

ごく自然な、いつもの夕暮れです。

でも、こんな何気ない夕景を眺めていると、
不思議と心が落ち着いていきます。

一日がゆっくりと終わり、
世界が静かに夜へ向かっていく。

今日も無事に一日を過ごせたことに、
そっと手を合わせたくなるような時間です。

平凡な風景に見えるかもしれません。

けれど、光も、雲も、風も、
その日、その瞬間だけのもの。

同じ風景には、
もう二度と出会えないと思っています。

This is Toen, in Yamato Village on Amami Oshima.

A quiet sunset, seen through the leaves of the pandanus trees.

The wind is gentle.
The sky does not blaze a brilliant red,
nor do spectacular rays of light appear.

It is simply an ordinary sunset,
the kind of evening that comes naturally every day.

And yet, as I watch this quiet scene,
I feel my heart slowly grow calm.

Another day gently comes to an end,
and the world quietly prepares for night.

It is the kind of moment that makes me want to put my hands together
and give thanks for having made it safely through another day.

It may seem like an ordinary landscape.

But the light, the clouds, and the wind
belong only to this particular day, this particular moment.

I believe we will never encounter
exactly the same scene again.
