My months long journey to Ecuador began with a visit to the Amazon, where I stayed at Kapawi Lodge the only indigenous owned and operated lodge in Ecuador. Immersing myself in the life of the Achuar, learning about medicinal plants, local history and even swimming in the Amazon.

If you had to eat one, Which bug would you eat? Grubs or ants?
Think I would enjoy visiting Kapawi Lodge. Interesting place. Can't beat natural remedies for ailments. I bet that many of the people who would refuse to eat the bug larvae would drink a diet cola instead…also interesting. I'm willing to eat bugs, but not seeking out the experience. Nature shows I've seen before are interesting and informative, but don't provide much human connection to the environment. Your videos do, which is appreciated.
Wow! Alice this is the best you have done yet! It felt like I was watching a nat geo documentary. Ecuador is so beautiful. I have been once and this is making me want to go back for sure.
in my BUCKET LIST, actually to canoe/hike,camp the AMAZON. My son and his family live in Bolivia and I fell in love with the ruggedness of this part of the Americas.
Love your vid.
Great Job, Alice!!

I spent two months in Belize when I was 15, in a very large clearing in the rainforest. We slept in bunkbeds in long canvas Army tents. Even though we had a communal gym type shower, many people including me, preferred to lather up in swim shorts, and then jump off a tree limb into a smaller tributary just before the tributary poured into the much larger and much more powerful, Belize River. When I was 19 and I moved away from a 200 person village in upstate New York, to live in a suburb outside the big city of Syracuse I felt so deeply lost inside. But then I remembered and thought about what I had experienced and felt in the jungle and other journeys to other wonderful places, and I suddenly realized the great importance of the joy of simplicity that I had felt in those summer months far from New York. You have such a jubilant light in your eyes at the videos end! There is a joy and peace that comes from discovering the truth that one feels in the jungle life that changes you for the remainder of your life on earth.
Amazing video, Alice! I would probably eat roasted ants. Your trip reminds me of a dream I had some years back. My maiden name is Piera. In the dream some young people from South America, who I did not know, were telling me about a drink called Piera, named for a South American moth. When I woke up I googled Piera and found out it is the species name for a South American glass winged butterfly that lives on the forest floor of the Amazon rain forest and eats fermented fruit. Haetera piera is the butterfly! Did you see many butterflies while there? Thanks.
Just for the sake of clarity: Did you ingest any Ayahuasca?
Amazing avanture Alince👍👍
Pero está en inglés. Debería estar subtitulada en español
Pienso que debería haber muchas personas como usted para hacer enterder que debemos cuidar el planeta es genial como persona y como documentalista cuidece y que Dios le bendiga saludos Quito Ecuador
Impresive Vid, thank you
This brings back so many memories.. I did this trip and did ayahuasca with Sumpa the shaman and his tribe that you see in this video. It Changed my life! I dream of going back!!
You can dream at great levels without ayahuasca, if the plants are taken for decades
by tribe people they will lose their natural dreaming. If they have taken it for centuries
then their natural dreaming will not return.
What magnification Binoculars did you have?
I’m jealous. I would to love to make that trip but the bugs are to big
Nice job!
I really wish you would have covered more of the Chicha culture!
Were you able to visit their actual village and the school?
😊
