【先帝祭の概要】
山口県下関市で毎年5月に開催される「先帝祭」は、しものせき海峡まつりを代表する伝統行事のひとつです。
1185年、壇ノ浦の戦いで幼くして海に身を沈めた安徳天皇と平家一門を偲び、その御霊を慰めるために受け継がれてきました。
祭りの見どころである「上臈道中」では、豪華絢爛な衣装を纏った太夫たちが、独特の足さばきである「外八文字」を披露しながら練り歩きます。
また、源氏と平氏の歴史を今に伝える武者行列や、赤間神宮で執り行われる上臈参拝など、先帝祭には800年以上の歴史と祈りが息づいています。
2026年の先帝祭は、雨の影響により屋内での開催となりました。
本映像では2026年の記録映像を中心に、一部過去開催時の映像も交えながら、先帝祭本来の姿と、どのような空の下でも受け継がれる祈りの形を映像としてまとめました。

【About Sentei Festival】
The Sentei Festival is one of the most iconic events of the Shimonoseki Kaikyo Festival, held annually every May in Shimonoseki, Japan.
The festival honors Emperor Antoku and the Heike clan, who perished during the Battle of Dan-no-ura in 1185. For more than 800 years, it has been carried on as a tribute to their memory and a prayer for peace.
One of the festival’s most celebrated traditions is the Courtesan Procession, where tayu dressed in magnificent costumes perform the distinctive steps known as Soto-hachimonji.
The festival also features samurai processions recalling the history of the Genji and Heike clans, as well as ceremonial prayers at Akama Shrine, where Emperor Antoku is enshrined.
Due to heavy rain, the 2026 festival was held indoors. This film primarily documents the 2026 festival while incorporating selected footage from previous years to present both the traditional form of the festival and the enduring spirit that continues through every generation.
