Andrew and Darshan Wienick are proud Saluki owners. In this video they share with the Dogumentary TV family, their life with their pack of Salukis.

Salukis are sighthounds—hunting by sight—and run their quarry down to retrieve it. The normal size range for the breed is 23–28 inches (58–71 cm) high at the withers and 40–60 pounds (18–27 kg) in weight. Female salukis are slightly smaller than males. The head is long and narrow with large eyes and drop ears.[6] The tail of the breed is long and curved. It has the typical deep-chested, long-legged body of sighthounds. The coat comes in a variety of colors including white, cream, fawn, red, grizzle/tan, black/tan, and tri-color (white, black and tan).

  1. There are many of them in the Arabian countries and they die out of thrust and hunger or they get poisoned by the governments.

  2. I'm just the Saluki person

because some people say they are more like Autistic cats

  3. I have a saluki from Qatar. She has hair all over her body. It’s sort of all her siblings. She is fine in color with a brown nose they do have hair they’re not always feathered.

  4. My mother’s side of the family is into showing, like showing dogs and we own Salukis. Currently we own 5, we didn’t train them to not chase things or bark or chew things or anything else, but we did train them to sit, lay down, stay, etc. they are truly magnificent creatures, and a huge part to me is that they all have such unique personalities. They grow strong bonds and make social groups, it’s beautiful to own one. Truly like living with royalty. My siblings and I must have helped grow them to be used to kids, so I would say if they’ve been around kids their whole lives, they will be friendly towards them. My family used to own 6 Salukis and if we still had twilight we would’ve had 7. We own one smooth Saluki while the rest are all feathered, Salukis are also very good at turning fast. Our Salukis chase each other around the yard switching between who’s being chased. Sometimes, if it’s just two in the yard, Anthem and Cisco will chase each other flipping back and forth until they stumble away or have to go inside. Sense Salukis are sight hounds, they are very observant, but one of ours, JL, often stares at the tv watching it. It’s very true that Salukis are couch lovers, so to help them we made a rule that they can only be on the couch if they are on a blanket or someone’s lap. This rule is broken by Anthem and occasionally shimmer.

  5. 6. have three. Beautiful dog, good with kids not small pets though, need space to run as they are active.

  7. Funny they have GOT names! I always though Viserys Targaryen reminded me of a Saluki. He was a horrible, but these dogs are stunning. Once I move out of the city I'm getting one

  8. Thank you for the information. Very responsible and great owners for great dogs.

  9. ive always thought of them sort of breeds as beautiful and as i may be getting one, i believe he'll make my mental health so much better.

  10. I’m a Muslim, and salukis are not conceded clean, all dog can’t be kept at home😅 Salukis are no different to any other dog, they’re all treated the same.

  11. I love and adore salukis, it was my first dog. Then borzoi, then a whippet, now my sister has 2 borzois and I have 2 whippet princesses. Have I had the economy for that, I would looove to have almost 1 of each sighthound, may be not the afgan cause it is tooo much grooming for me 😅😅 Otherwise I always say – sighthounds are the best dogs, spend a weekend or a week babysitting a saluki or a whippet and you fall in love madly <3

  12. I would keep one but would want to run it on game …I understand this is not acceptable to many people…I don’t need the catch and kill but would want the hunt and run.

  13. In the "muslim" religion, dogs are considered unclean and not allowed in tents or similar conditions. But, regardless of the religious aspect, the muslim people will readily bend any religious laws that are not convenient, the most common being the cultural accommodation that allows women to decorate their faces, whereas the religious law would require them to hide their faces.

  14. I have a whippet and want to add a Saluki one day but they are so rare here where I live.

  15. Legitly the rally racers of dogss!!! Im buying one to raceeeeee, beautiful dogs, they make great burglar alarms too🙏

  16. I have a Saluki x fastest dog i ever had, at full speed he seemed to float across the earth & he loved it too. Getting old now & broke a cruciate ligament a year ago, had a Vetlig dyneema replacement which has worked well. He can still run but it has slowed him a bit! And did i say he howls? boy can he howl!

  17. I just feel like this lady is really hard on her husband. It’s giving me the boost to break up with my girl who is the same.
