Hey, fellow dog fanciers and whippeteers! My name is Adriana, proudly owned by 8 gorgeous whippets, and I have been surrounded by pets since day 1. The world of show dogs, dog shows and responsible breeding has been keeping me busy since the age of 12 and this channel is especially created to educate on these controversial topics

por lo que dices hay que estudiar un doctorado para cuidar un whippet
Hear me out! Get one of each!
Miss my boy, male whip.. passed away last december
I’ve had 10 dogs all different breeds over my lifetime. I picked up a female Whippet from the local humane society and didn’t even really know what she was till later. The best and wackiest dog I’ve ever had. Only negative I have had is separation anxiety only when she’s knows I’m near by (garage or outside). If I leave the house completely she is fine and have checked camera.
I agree with virtually everything you say!
One thing I would add though is that my boy whippet is much more independent when we go for walks, with worse recall (not bad, just worse), and will more often only come back when he’s finished what he’s doing. He’s also more likely to go and interact with other dogs. His sister walks much more closely to me, and always comes back the first time I call her, plus she’s not interested in other dogs, and will hang back, or run past them if she can.
I’ve often said my boy is a perfect indoor dog, while my girl is a perfect outdoor dog.
So funny – with Beagles, it's pretty much the other way round – the girls are the easy ones here, and the males can be downright obnoxious and cat-like, as in, only make themselves available for cuddles on their terms and not obeying commands/requests unless you've got food on you.
Where did you get the bronze Whippet on the bedside table?
Also, we have a two year old Whippet and love your videos and Gracie’s winter coat.
I fostered a Whippet Hound and fell in love with her. She was challenging from month 3-6. Trained well to live with cats and bunny
My girl was a happy go lucky and much easier to train. She didn't need a treat reward in training and always wanted to please. My boy is much more independent and needs treat rewards before doing my bidding but he is super affectionate.
Not familiar at all w/this breed, but I love learning new things. Am surprised to learn that the females are more feisty than the males. Although… now that I think about it, my female Chihuahua-mix bosses around the younger male Lab-mix😂. Or maybe Chihuahuas are just more feisty than Labs and their sex is irrelevant?
My first whippet was a rescue because he lived with another dog who kept attacking him. He was a good boy. My second was a retire show male and was fine until I got a retire show female. He kept attacking and biting her. I had got the male from a breeder owner handler and the female from her daughter who was also a breeder owner handler. I didn't want a dog that bit anything, so the daughter took her mother's dog back and I kept the female. The female was very much a loner as compared to the two males. But she was raised in a kennel which may have had something to do with it, but she had plenty of human contact. Terrified of thunder tho. She was also an escape artist who jumped my 5 foot fence 3 times. The third time, even tho she was tick medicine had come down with anaplasmosis which caused kidney failure. I loved that dog. Now 6 years and 5 surgeries later, I am waiting for my next dog from the same breeder owner handler who is a male named Nigel. I can't wait to meet him especially since I don't even know what he looks like LOL. He too is a retired show dog. I think it will be in two weeks. I can't wait. I missed my Nat. But i can honestly say, after two males and female, I prefer males even tho Nat was my favorite.
I love my spicy girls 🙂
How do I get my 3-year-old female Whippet to stop attacking my 4-year-old female Whippet? The 4-year-old always tears her up. Very frustrating.
Thanks for sharing, whippets are so lovely. Hope to have one soon 🙂
It’s 2025. If either decide they’re the opposite sex you better just accept it or they’ll report you to the MET police, whereupon 8 armed cops will drag you away.
My boy was walking behind me the other day, and I hear this loud scream, like something horrible happened. I turn around and realize he accidentally put one paw in a cold puddle. 😀
Same applies to greyhounds. We've had two girls before we adopted our new boy and he's so much more well adjusted. I must admit, I do kinda prefer the drama of the girls though!
I thought you were going to generalize based on your personal experience, but pretty much everything you said jives with my sister and brother pair.
Rotten. Boy whips are spoiled babies… i love them both.
So true – the boys scream when you touch their legs. The girls could have their organs hanging out and not make a peep.
Man usually doing better with female Dogs and vice versa. I like the gentle nature of females
1 of each. Perfect
We bought a whippet from a reputable breeder. Since we wanted a family dog, she recommended a male, saying he would be more affectionate and see himself more as a part of the family. He was a huge boy from a championship line. Beautiful dog, but a runner. Could never let him off the lead. Sprained my ankle chasing him once.
Any advice how to stop an 8 mos old female from barking?.
