  1. You're not kidding they do shed a lot. I have two and I feel like I live in a world of dog hair. But they sure are lovable, cuddly, cute and fun.

  2. Fun fact; Stumpy's were originally bred to bypass some crazy law in Qld that taxed tailed working dogs but tailless (which there were none at the time) because they supposedly didn't exist were tax exempt.

  3. If this video closed the book on these two breeds the only difference between the two are slightly different conformations. I was hoping to learn other differences. What? How should I know what other differences? If I knew that I wouldn't have watched the video. Geez, some people.
Seriously, if anyone is familiar with some of the finer points of these two breeds, add Kelpies into equation if you can, share it here. please.

  4. Cant even get the breed name right, its AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG, not blue heeler.
Oh & the stolen pictures 🤬 plus wrong information 🤦‍♀️.

  5. LOL there the same, someone just decided to cut the tail off. I’ve had both and wonder why anyone other than a cattle owner who works there dog would cut that tail off. Heck they love chasing it sometimes ha. One hour of excerise, maybe one in the morning, one in the afternoon and playtime in the evening. Love these dogs.

  6. Mate, the stumpy comes in either red OR blue. If they have a mix of colours they are not pure bred, there is a x in the mix. I have been breeding stumpies in Oz for 30 years now. They do not have a mix of colours. Blue heelers can and will have tan on the chest legs or face.

  7. I live in a house with a Cattle Dog. I'm not real mobile anymore but I have this insane dog that wants to run 20 kms a day and she's 11 (about 60 in human years). I burn off two million calories a day tossing that damned dog's squeaky toy up the hall way five hours a day. It accounts for 50% of the exercise I get! For God's sake – spare yourselves!

  8. I wonder if I have a mini Stumpy cuz he is smaller than other Hellers in weight

  9. Your dog doesn’t look like the Australian version of a stumpy tail cattle dog where they have a longer body and a bit taller than the cattle dog. Blue Heelers and Red Heelers is the common name for Australian Cattle Dogs. Stumpy tails worked with the drover – one man, one horse, one dog… they go out and bring in stock together and meet the other drovers at the yards. The stumpy’s job in the working pack is to take the beasts face. The cattle dogs take the heels – hence ‘Heelers’ .
Stumpys are better as a family pet.

  10. Had a Stumpy. Smartest dog I ever owned. Dare I say even more intelligent than my Border Collies which is really splitting hairs when you're talking about genius dogs.

  11. If you are thinking about "minimum exercise requirements" the Blue Heeler is the wrong breed for you. Sure you can take them for walks and run them but they are really a 24/7 go everywhere dog — if you can't give them that, consider another breed — my 2 cents. Great dogs — but they are different than most other breeds — wild and loyal all that same time. Cheers.

  12. I rescued my Stumpy. She was abandoned by the people who owned her from newborn to 2 years old. I don’t consider them to be her family. They dumped her off to someone who hit her, kept her locked in a small cage in a garage, never let her out to go potty, and starved her to where her ribs were showing!! 😡 I have had her for 8 years and will until her dying day. She is so loyal and sweet. She has severe anxiety that she is going to be abandoned by us because of what those monsters did to her! Anytime we are loading the car for a trip she runs outside the house and jumps in the car and won’t get out. She is literally one of the sweetest dogs ever. She can catch a chew toy mid air in crazy positions & now that she’s older she can still jump high! Very smart, very beautiful, and a cute little nub tail that’s adorable when she wags it! I love my Stumpy Tail Australian Cattle Dog who’s name is Bella 🐕🎀! So glad I found her! 💛

  13. My dog has a stumpy tail. How do I know if it is naturally short or cut off? (I got her at the pound so I don't know how to tell?)

  14. Has anyone pointed out the fact that this videos makes out that blue heelers and cattle dogs are different dogs… 😂😅😅
Same dog!! Both names are for the same dog 😅😂
Ones oure one is mixed coat. Stumpies are also a particular breed of heeler.. 😅😂😅😂

  15. a litter can have tailed pups, no tails , known as rumpies , stump tail all in the same litter. my pup was one of 2 in 9 pups that had a full tail.
Loyal is the final word. you have to be ready to be a good boss.

  16. stop calling them blue heelers they are both cattle dogs[red blue or stumpy] and dont have curly tails ffs

  17. Been breeding and working blues for 50 years. Not all Smithfield ACDs aka Stumpy have a stump and can have a tail. Smithfields have no rust or dark red patches. There is no other difference. Never had any "shed a ton".

  18. Owner of 3 heelers over 40 yrs. You failed to explain the health problems with hips, eyes, and ears. I love this breed but they can be antisocial and are often dominant in a group. They often pick one person to bond with. They are not golden retrievers. Best suited for ranch life with an active owner who will provide activity and discipline when needed. To me they are the best friend I ever had. RIP Tag.

  19. You ever wish you can take your view back or the time you spent watching a video? Yeah I felt like a dog chasing my tail listening to the repeat surface lvl info…

  20. There are so many inaccuracies here.
AI or not, do not trust an American video on Heelers.
That would be like comparing Vegemite to peanut butter.
    Pathetic.

  21. Mine, here in Australia, is 22.5".
It would that a lot of the American stock is on the smaller side.

  22. My Rosie, was a Red healer crossed with a Stumpy, lived until 17, mainly ate Roo. She was just the best and so loyal. Cheers

  23. I have a Heeler and a Border Collie. The heeler is 13 the BC is 3 they both shed like hell. The heeler want's to be near you all the time the BC want's to cuddle when you are relaxing. The Heeler is Ford Raptor the BC is a Corvette. The heeler in many way's is smarter but more direct. The BC is But thinks thing out. She is a strategist. Love them both!

  24. They are the exact same breed. One is born with a stumpy tail and one with a tail , i have one, and they are called a Smithfield stumpy tailed healer they come in red and blue. Mine is red, and as the farmer i got him off told me, they are exactly the same dogs other than the Smithfield being taller and leaner will and can run all day and the long tail healers being shorter and more solid wont run as much as the Smithfield,my opinion they are the smartest, friendly, and loyal best friend you will ever have and the best thing is they always want to be with you
