テルビュレンとマリノアの子犬?ベルギーの羊飼いの品種間繁殖

Can a Tervuren have puppies with a Malinois?
If Rancho had puppies with a female Malinois, what would they look like?
In todays video we talk about inter-variety breeding of the Belgian Shepherd Dog.
We cover the genetics of the Belgian Shepherd Dog and clarify the differences between the four varieties – the Tervuren, the Malinois, The Groenendael and the Laekenois.
What happens when a Groenendael has puppies with a Tervuren?
And what about a Malinois with a Groenendael?

Rancho the Dog is a 4 year old Belgian Shepherd Tervuren. There are 4 varieties of the Belgian Shepherd Dog – the Malinois (short coated), the Groenendael (black long-coated), the Lakenois (wire-haired) and the Tervuren (basically a long-coated Malinois, as far as color is concerned)

  1. thanks for this interesting video. knew nothing about these breeding possibilities. but your explanation is clear. and actually it is good for the breeds. And just on another topic; the teeth gel you mentioned earlier in another video works great. Fenna teeth are much better now. Not a shiney Rancho smile, 😄 but definitely an improvement! Byebye and stay safe👋👋👊

  2. There is recessive black in Groenendaels, so it is possible that the genetics don't work exactly as you showed here.

  3. Congrats! 3K Subsrbers Rancho! Yay! Great contend! Love d pictures! Hey Rancho, tell ur Mom she has a nice voice! Thank youuu for sharing❣🐺😇😻👍

  4. Wow it's all quite complicated 😀😀😀😀😀 you did a great job explaining! I don't care much for the breed, they are all cute ❤❤❤❤❤ full watch including ads as always 👍👍👍👍👍stay safe my dear friend 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

  5. Super interesting! You mentionned 27 tervs left after WW2. Would you have the source for this data? super thanks !

  6. Very interesting. Most of the Malinois we have encountered were rather aggressive and Rancho looks like such a sweetheart. I would imagine the Tervuren temper would balance everything out 😊

  7. It's just one breed, with 4 varieties. Ridiculous point of view of some canine clubs… Probably inspired by an orange-haired "president".

Anyway, I really liked this exposition ! Ok, you're not experts, neither am I, but I know enough about genetics to understand all of it.
We have bought a "Belgian shepherd" calendar last year, so all this weird year we've been looking at photos of all 4 varieties (slightly less of the Lakenois though) and their similarities are so obvious… granted, some Malinois resemble their German Shepherd cousins more, in that they have a more robust looking build… but not all of them.
We passed a Malinois this weekend that was HUGE… bigger and heavier than both our previous German shepherds – and our bitch weighed about 42 kg!! So we guess it's not all about inter-variety breeding, but also about inter-racial breeding as well.
Still, as you state, breeding should all be about enriching the gene pool… and it's a well-known fact that sometimes 2 Tervuerens produce Groenendael pups, or vice versa… the Lakenois variety is pretty much rarer, we don't get to see these often. Tervuerens and Malinois are the most well-known, however, being a simple variety of one race, their temperaments do differ quite a lot.

    Thanks for sharing this one…

How is Rancho doing, btw ?

  8. May I ask who gave you permission to use a photo of one of my dogs… I'm curious.. 🙂

  9. Hello, my puppy’s dad is a German shepherd and his mother is a tervuren but he seems to have a shorter coat than you would expect of a tervuren, so I was wondering if it possible he is a Malinois cross German shepherd and not like tervuren?

  10. This is exactly what l have.
    Father Tervuren mother malinois.
8 years old 80 pounds female in a raw diet.
    1. Super super smart.
    2. Funniest dog ever
    3. No health issues whatsoever
    4. She can take cold weather like a husky
    5. She can track like a hound
    6. Amazing memory
    7. She's a velcro
    8. Ball crazy
    9. Best alarm system

    3.

  11. Great video! Here in Europe these are pretty known informations, not so much in America. Glad you show the Deabei litter, I love their breeding program.

  12. Hi, First of all I love your channel! We have 2 16 week old Mainois/Turveran pups (brother and sister) . Male looks all Malinois and Female is a fuzzy little Turveran. A challenge for sure but we love every minute. ♡ I wanted to drop a picture but it won't let me 🙂

  13. We never really knew what breed she was, but my mom used to say Roxy was a mix between a malinois and either a groendael or a tervueren. She really looked exactly like a short haired groendael… so i guess she was a mix between a groendael and a malinois then ?
The poor baby was rescued with health issues and had to be put down more than 20 years ago (extremely severe epilepsy)
Please don't get a pup as a plushie, they are not toys…

  14. Yesterday we welcomed a beautiful, kind, and sweet Belgian Tevuren into our family. You're channel is a great resource for information and you have a beautiful dog as well. Thank you for sharing!

  15. Please empasize that even though Mals with long coat cant compete in conformation they are excellent AKC performance dogs! You statement that they cannot compete in AKC is rather misleading to say the least.

  16. Nice described, I bread lab & German spitz, about colour blacks cromozomes are stronger always I am agree with you.

  17. In Belgium have mixtures never dogs of breeds, sometimes an accident happens, I have experienced a Tervuren x ? He was nice to people but killed other dogs, for at least a century we have 5 varieties of shepherd thanks to our strict discipline, just a case the shepherd became Dutch, gifts from the Belgians, yet he is a variant of the Malinois but his dress is awful

  18. I understand the idea of only wanting to have one black variety, but I think a black short-haired or black rough-coated / wire-coated dog would be awesome looking.

  19. I have a litter of 2 belgian malinois they have 9 puppys and i think we have 2 tervuren??? Because they have longer coat? But not to long coat like the tervuren

  20. I looove the coat type at 4:49. Idk why I love how majestic the Terv and Groenendaels are but I'm absolutely obsessed with that medium length coat with longer furnishings. Legit my dream dog. They should be allowed to be shown lol.
Also about the "forbidden" matings I've never understood whats wrong with having black malinois's I know they exist and in fact Upstate Canine Academy's Tom Davis has a beautiful and well trained one but its apparently not an accepted color

  21. I've been a dog owner for 36 of my years and a fan ever since I learned to walk. I still remember the first time I saw a Belgian Shepherd. It was during a televised dog show. That dog melted my heart like butter on a hot skillet. Gorgeous. I have since learned it was a Groenendael. My last remaining doggo has entered her twilight years. She's the last of my 3 bernese-shepherd littermates that I adopted as puppies. Losing her is more than I can bear to contemplate so I've begun the hunt to adopt again. For me, only a gentler transition can ease that looming sorrow. I have come across a young Tervuren GSD mix who seems to have all the best of both worlds. The problem is a rescue picked her up as a stray. They tell me she is exhibiting severe behavior problems so she will remain with a trainer for now. (She chewed up a wire crate and ate her way through some drywall in her effort to escape). Well she is entitled poor baby because she had a bad start in life. The good news is they won't need to put her down even if she can never be placed in a home. They have a farm where troubled doggies can live a peaceful life. Meanwhile, while I wait our her prognosis, I am seriously in love with the Belgian Shepherd long-haired and very much enjoyed your video. Thank you and wish me luck!

  22. What would a mix of all four Belgian types be called? It sounds like an interested concept. Like an ultimate German dog

  23. I have a 16 month old Malinois / Tervuren cross…he looks just like the 2 forward dogs at 1:44 but with a little shorter coat. He's an amazing dog!!!

  24. I have a 14 yo Groenendael and he is just the best dog! I had someone try to convince me they had a Groenendael but it had short hair and looked like a black german shepherd to me. Maybe I was wrong and it was a mixed Groenendael/Malinois. Thanks for the info!

  25. My wife and I are volunteer at the society for the protection of animals in France when we encountered our first Groenendael, Loyd. We have walked more than 100 dogs of different breeds during our 5 years of volunteering but never a dog like him. It was what we call, love at first sight. We tried to adopt him but despite being know volunteer, association officials decided to give him to a student of 21 years living in a studio. Anyway, we are no longer volunteer after this debacle.
Fast forward 3 years and we were still talking about this dog often. So I surprised my wife by finally agreeing to have one at home. We have now a Gro puppy of 4 month and my god, what a sweet sweet little boy. Could not be happier with this little gentleman. It's a shame than this breed is literally surviving here in France with barelly 400 births per year.

  26. I love these dogs an amazing breed. Unfortunately they are going through a popularity spike due to films showing these amazing dogs . The same has happened with other breeds like the cane corso. Unscrupulous breeders. Please keep up your great work on educational matters regards the breed . I've worked with dogs for nearly 40 and wrong people buying the wrong dog asked why they bought their chosen breed . I was told oh I saw it in a film or my friend got one . Did you research your chosen breed no I just fancied one . Very sad .

  27. It's funny to listen to how the American side sort of just turns a blind eye on their genetics while also defining them purely based on their parents instead of how they look. To me that's irony. "Oh this litter just mysteriously happened to have different variety qualities, must be god's gift! They're different breed!" On the other hand it's weird how arbitrarily it is decided by some party that black malinois and black laekenois can't exist. Despite tervueren having to my understanding originally been undesired variation in the litter but then accepted as perfectly fine variety of the breed. I don't want to get too deep into comparing to eugenics, but this idea seems equally silly and arbitrary.
