[ワシントン／カイロ ２０日 ロイター] – 米軍は１９日、イラン南部のバンダルアッバス港に向かっていたイラン船籍の貨物船に対し、６時間の対峙の末、発砲してエンジンを停止させた。米中央軍が発表した。
その後、米海兵隊員がヘリコプターから船上に降下した。
トランプ大統領は交流サイト（ＳＮＳ）に「われわれは相手の船を完全に確保しており、船内に何があるのか確認している」と投稿した。
イラン軍はこの船が中国から航行していたと明らかにした。国営メディアによると、軍報道官は「イランは米軍によるこの武装海賊行為に対し、間もなく対応し報復する」と述べた。
