[ワシントン ７日 ロイター] – 米陸軍のダニエル・ドリスコル長官はロイターとの電話インタビューで、米陸軍が「今後２─３年で少なくとも１００万機のドローン（無人機）を購入する見通しだ」と明らかにした。その後数年間は、年間５０万機から数百万機規模を調達する可能性があると述べた。ロシアとウクライナの戦闘で、前例のない規模でドローンが投入されている状況を踏まえ、対応を強化する。
ドリスコル氏は、現在の調達が年間５万機程度にとどまっていると指摘し、大量調達の計画について「大幅な拡大だが、遂行可能だ」と語った。陸軍のドローンへの認識を根本的に見直し、「精巧な」装備ではなく、使い捨てることを想定したものにすると説明した。
ドリスコル氏は、ウクライナとロシアはそれぞれ年間約４００万機のドローンを生産し、中国はその２倍以上の生産能力を持つと指摘。将来の戦争に対応できるドローン生産体制を米国が整えることが優先課題だと強調した。「１─２年後には、紛争発生時に必要な数のドローンを製造できる強固なサプライチェーン（供給網）を構築できるだろう」と述べた。
ロイターは関係筋の話として、米国防総省のＤＯＧＥ部門が数万機のドローンは安価なものにするなど、米軍のドローンプログラムを今後数カ月で見直していると伝えている。
ドリスコル氏は、分散調達を重視し、特定の防衛大手に依存せず、商業用途も手がけるドローン生産企業と協力する意向も示した。
