［ブリュッセル ２６日 ロイター］ – 欧州連合（ＥＵ）は２６日、ブリュッセルで開いた首脳会議で、貿易協定に関する米国の新たな提案について協議した。関税猶予期間が７月９日に期限を迎えるのを前に、ＥＵが共通の立場を見いだす時間は限られつつある。
ＥＵ当局筋によると、フォンデアライエン欧州委員長は米国からの新たな提案の「概要」を各国首脳に提示した。詳細は不明。
一方、ＥＵ外交筋はこの文書を「２ページの原則合意」と表現し、米側は特定の産業分野に踏み込むことを望んでいないと指摘。「残り２週間しかない。ブラジルや英国のような合意を目指すべきだ。フランスはより強硬な立場で、イタリアはその反対だ」と述べた。
首脳会議では米国との早期の貿易合意を目指すか、より良い合意を求めて交渉を続けるか検討したが、欧州の二大経済大国である独仏の間で立場に相違があるもようだ。
メルツ独首相はより迅速でシンプルな合意を推し進めるべきとの見方を示した。一方、仏当局者は欧州委が断固とした立場を取り、米サービス分野を標的にすべきだと主張した。
トランプ米大統領は７月９日までに合意できなければＥＵに対する関税を５０％に引き上げると警告している。
