20 Years After the Tsunami: Survivors Share Their Stories in Thailand | India Today
Two decades after the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami devastated Thailand’s Andaman coast, the trauma and resilience of its survivors remain etched in their memories and lives. The tsunami, one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history, claimed the lives of around 230,000 people across Southeast Asia, including 8,000 in Thailand’s coastal provinces. Today, in the small village of Ban Nam Khem in Phang Nga province, those who lived through the disaster continue to navigate its psychological scars while rebuilding their homes and communities.
