[ワシントン １８日 ロイター] – トランプ次期米大統領は１８日、議会指導部が前日発表した来年３月までの政府予算を手当てするつなぎ予算案に反対するよう議員らに促した。現行のつなぎ予算の期限が２０日に迫る中、議会の対応が遅れて政府機関が一部閉鎖される可能性が高まった。
つなぎ予算は連邦予算を現在の水準に維持し、災害救援に１０００億ドル、農家支援に１００億ドルを充てる内容。このほか、議員報酬の引き上げなども盛り込まれている。 もっと見る
トランプ氏は法案を一時的な支出と災害救援に限定するべきだとし、連邦債務上限の引き上げも求めた。
議会の今後の対応は不透明。法案の可決には超党派の合意が必要になる。
トランプ次期政権で歳出削減を主導する実業家イーロン・マスク氏も、議会に法案を可決しないよう圧力をかけた。
民主党は、トランプ氏の発言は混乱の前兆だと指摘する。「下院共和党は政府を閉鎖するよう指示された。彼らが支持すると主張する労働者階級の国民に苦痛を与えることになる。超党派の合意を破れば、その結果に対して責任を負うことになる」と、民主党下院トップのジェフリーズ院内総務はソーシャルメディアに投稿した。
