『マッドマックス：フュリオサ』“狂気のカーチェイス”は健在！ヤバすぎる改造車を徹底紹介！

映画『マッドマックス：フュリオサ』が、31日に全国公開（日本語吹替版／IMAX®／4D／Dolby Cinema®（ドルビーシネマ）／ScreenX 同時上映）となる。

　今回解禁となった映像では、ジョージ・ミラー監督やアニャ・テイラー＝ジョイ、クリス・ヘムズワースらが魂を込めた改造車について、熱く語る様子が捉えられている。

　ジョージ・ミラー監督は、「すべての車は、そのキャラクターを象徴する」と、車両は単なる乗り物ではないと語る。本作では、なんと145台もの車両が登場。ミラー監督は、「『マッドマックス怒りのデス・ロード』と『マッドマックス：フュリオサ』を製作する際に注意していたことのうちのひとつが、それぞれの登場人物を象徴するような車両を作ることだった。それらの車両は衣装や髪型、武器、そして彼らが持つあらゆる人工物と同じように、キャラクターの延長にある」と、唯一無二の世界観を生み出す彼ならではの表現方法についてコメント。本作でも、前作『マッドマックス怒りのデス・ロード』を上回るほどパワフルな改造車が多数登場。

　さらにミラー監督は、「ディメンタス将軍は、物語のなかで車両を乗り換えるんだ。赤いディメンタスはチャリオット型のバイクに乗り、のちに燃料や戦士たちをより多く手に入れられるようになると、最終的には巨大なモンスタートラックに乗ることになる。そしてそれが彼のキャラクターになる。そしてフュリオサは最終的に、大きく進歩したウォー・タンクの製造を手伝うことになり、それが『マッドマックス怒りのデス・ロード』に登場するウォー・タンクにつながるんだ。彼女の脱出への願いの象徴だよ。車両はキャラクターたちの一部だ。」と、物語が進むにつれて車両の変化も楽しめると語っている。

　そんな監督の想いを受けて、若きフュリオサ役としてハードなカーアクションシーンの数々をこなしたアニャは「今やどの車も我が子のように大切で、どれかひとつなんて選べない」と、クレイジーな改造車に対して並々ならぬ愛情を明かす。本作では、マッドマックスシリーズの象徴でもあり、荒廃した砂漠を轟音とともに駆け抜ける“ウォー・タンク”や、フュリオサの復讐の覚悟が表れているような威圧感あふれる“クランキー・ブラック”、ディメンタス将軍が乗りこなす3つのバイクを合体させた“チャリオット”や、巨大な6つのタイヤを備えた“シックス・フット”など、個性あふれる狂った車両の数々が登場。本映像でもその姿を、貴重なメイキングシーンと共に堪能することができる。
