  1. It's amazing because the Ainu were said to be darkly complected. I could be incorrect, but i think that I heard the Ainu(?) were dark.

  2. This would have made a great HIGH ADVENTURE movie with Chadwick Boseman, Westley Snipes or Denzel Washington as Yasuke. Like James Clavell’s “Shogun”; based on a real person.

  3. Once again, this bogus bullshit. History says this guy was viewed as a curiosity, nothing more. Never a Samurai, never a trusted anything. He even ran away from a battle and disappeared from history. Get your shit straight for God's sake and stop spreading this made-up garbage to be politically correct, or for whatever reason you're using. THERE IS NO ACTUAL HISTORY TO SUPPORT ANY OF IT!!!!!

  4. We have become aware of a controversy among English-speaking netizens regarding whether Yasuke was a samurai. In Japanese language sources, it is rather clear that Yasuke's position and status were that of a samurai. He is referred to as a samurai of African descent in mainstream Japanese sources. We don't know who is spreading the rumor to undermine his status on the English-speaking internet, but there seem to be many misled people who question his status. Japanese-language references below:

Please see this BBC Japan article that refers to him as a samurai:

Yahoo News Japan article that refers to him as a member of the bushi 武士 warrior class under the patronage of Nobunaga (men of the bushi class serving lords are called samurai):

Japanese Wikipedia page that contains historical sources clarifying his status as a member of the bushi 武士 warrior class:

It's our hope that this video can get the truth out about this fascinating figure who is increasingly catching the attention of the globe!
