Japanโs Hirano Ayumu finally managed to reach the top step of the Olympic podium when he won gold in the snowboard menโs halfpipe at Beijing 2022. The 23-year-old took silver in Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, but he wasnโt to be denied this time as he beat Scotty James (AUS) and Jan Scherrer (SUI).
The competition will also be remembered as the final contest of legendary snowboarder Shaun Whiteโs career, and the American finished just outside the medals in fourth.
