石見銀山遺跡とその文化的景観
石見銀山は、島根県大田市にある、戦国時代後期から江戸時代前期にかけて最盛期を迎えた日本最大の銀山である。上述の最盛期に日本は世界の銀の約3分の1を産出したとも推定されるが、石見銀山産出の銀がそのかなりの部分を占めたとされる。2007年に世界遺産に登録された。

Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine and its Cultural Landscape
Iwami Ginzan is the largest silver mine in Japan, located in Oda City, Shimane Prefecture, which reached its peak from the late Warring States period to the early Edo period. It is estimated that Japan produced about one-third of the world’s silver during the peak period mentioned above, but it is said that silver from Iwami Ginzan accounted for a large part of it. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2007.
