Brian Shaw is true to his word. When he invites an athlete, he stands to it and won't disinvite him. But: Shaw assumes that the athlete takes the responsibility to be in shape to compete or otherwise decline the invite for a later occasion.

I've always been Team Stoltman. But it's sad to see what's going on right now. Tom you are just too young to be semi-retired. You're in your prime and slacking off. Luke you only have a few potentially great years and also slacking off. You guys are just now getting the Stoltman name and reputation built up. What are you doing? Slacking off like this is gonna hurt your yourselves in terms of sponsors, promotions, supporters and fans. YOU GUYS NEED TO CONTINUE TO WORK HARD AT 100% FOR ABOUT 3 MORE YEARS. Luke, you and Tom committed to the Shaw Classic. You both should've been ready – point blank. LOOK TO OLESKI NOVIKOV FOR INSPIRATION. HE'S FIGHTING A WAR AND STILL GIVING 100%. BRIAN SHAW IS 40 YEARS OLD AND STILL GIVING 100%. THE STOLTMAN BRAND WON'T LAST MUCH LONGER SLACKNG OFF LIKE THIS. I love you guys. But this is sad. Tom, I know Strongman is hard work and not fun all the time. But it beats factory or construction work til age 65.
I'd appreciate some clarification on why Luke made the trip, but didn't compete. Tom's situation is understandable, particularly due to his ASD, but it seems to me that Luke should've given up his spot as far in advance as possible if he wasn't interested in competing. Is there a reason this wasn't done?
