Whitney Houston was originally asked to be in Dreamgirls as they had planned to make the film back in 1994 but she said no. Even tho she had the right look for Deena, her voice was too good to play Deena and she was too beautiful to be Effie.
Eddie Murphy nailed this character. So sad he died in the movie. All three of these girls got beautiful voices singing “Round and Round” The way Beyonce was dancing and singing “Feel so real “ was sexy.
If y'all remember this. This year of the Oscars was Eddie's year in the industry. This man got nominated for this and Shrek. But Shrek was his payday. So he prolly wasn't tripping off of not getting the 🏆 for this.
Here I am in 2024! This movie brings me back to my theatre baby steps as a middle schooler. Along with other 2006 musicals High School Musical and Happy Feet! And I haven’t seen Eddie be this flamboyant in like forever. One of my favorite songs by the way!
Eddie Murphy was robbed of the Oscar for this. The granddad from Little Miss Sunshine ended up winning, and I will still say, there is no way he should have gotten the Oscar over Eddie, no way.
