Join me in a long tour of the 2020 dahlia garden. Lots of really beautiful cut flowers are blooming. Perhaps, I’ll show more as the season progresses.

Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common “gardening for beginners” type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens, growing flowers, and planting beautiful organic food is something I’m really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, cut flowers, vegetables, and much more. Freshcutky youtube channel and related media are for entertainment purposes only.

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is “@freshcutky”?

@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you’ll see random projects, cooking, and of course – growing stuff. I’m not an expert, and would never claim to be. There’s always more to learn – this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including YouTube) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. I do not create sponsored content or use affiliate links unless they have been explicitly stated above.

  1. The one you called "Steven David" is not correctly named. Steven David is dark orange with yellow tips. The blooms are about 6" and it gets a good 4.5' tall. I did totally enjoy your video despite that it makes me want to figure out how to cram a few more in my garden!

  2. Your growing conditions can sometimes affect height or coloration, but make no mistake, dahlia companies sell you anything just so they don't lose a sale. I found dahlia varieties on the websites of many online companies, and bought some of them to replace varieties I had lost. The end result was disastrous because none of them looked anything like the online pictures, which were perfect representations of what they look like. Many of these companies are deceptive. Many of the ones mentioned in your video are dishonest, to put it mildly.

  3. Dahlias are my grandpa's favorite flower. He passed away in June 2021, so I enjoy seeing your lovely garden and remembering the good times! The close up shots especially remind me of the times long ago when he would walk me through his gardens, and show off flowers that were larger than my then seven-year-old head.

  4. I always come back to watch this video, I love looking at how different all the blooms are

  5. i'm 87 and after hydriding daylilies since 1987 i'm growing dahlias to enjoy for over 5 nyears now. i have them in a landscape garden and anyone who has seen a daylily garden has witness the eightt wonder of the world. including the name if dahlia is important to anyone wanting to grow it themselves thank you

  6. Hi, just found you! Love that you dont use pesticides. Can I ask what that lady is called you were talking about? Cosy Town? thanks

  7. Fabulous video! What company can I trust to actually send me the Labyrinth Dahlia? I had a company send almost all the wrong tubors and I got a Mystery Day that was a nice surprise that I didn't order also! Do the Cafe au Laits bloom faster than the Cafe au Lait Royals? No signs of buds from my Cafe au Lait Royal (zone6) but all the other dahlias around it had blooms and I am wondering if I will have better luck w the lighter color version?

  8. There are two anemone dahlias called Polka = they are completely different colours and flowers. I had the one you have – I loved it. Not many blooms tho. Some anemones type dahlias have the bigger flowers like your Polka – the other Polka is more like the smaller traditional anemone ones. and it does have a lot of pink and yellow i think. The polka we have is vey cream with red edged petals.

  9. This was an amazing video! I can see you put a ton of work in editing and labeling the varieties. Thank you for this huge effort! Great job!

  10. Myrthe dahlia looks stunning 😍😍😍🤩🤩oh, it is not available in UK market. ☹️☹️Ps. (For anyone in UK/Europe, dahlia "Dazzling Magic" looks very similar to Myrthe). I had some rudbeckia sahara in similar colour range, soo beautiful, this is even better.

  11. New Dahlia backyard gardner… I just planted this early spring… buds are small and opening up but they look small. Can you give tips on how to get big blooms like yours, please.?

  12. 29:01 Lilac Time… I imagine there are tutorials on how to create usable stems by doing some pruning during the season..
Might as well look into it for 'problem' species that you have.
    Good luck!
Thx for making these wonderful videos!
I especially enjoy your knack for combining colors in your buckets and photos. . Such beauty!! 😍🎈🍀🍻

  13. Thank you for the very informative and beautiful Video. Your Dahlias are so beautiful I love every single Dahlia you showed.
