Totally agree!
I hate it so much when companies just reformulate a good product, just because they can make it cheaper. For me, it is the Drunk Elephant TLC glycolic night serum. It always worked the best for me when I suffer with acne, so I was okay to buy it. However, since last year, the company change their formula, downgrading their AHA/BHA percentages + a bunch of other products while charging the same expensive prize tag.
I am literally super mad about it. You know. Just in case, I did purchase the new formula just to see whether it still worked for me or not. Guess what! IT DID NOT PERFORM THE SAME THING!
Don't tell me these companies can't afford/access to those ingredients because of pandemic, while charging the same price tag. That is totally bs!
❤️👏
Thanx for heads up, I was having it on my "splurge list" based on your reviews. I just backed up from buying it for a while since their Ultra repair cream was a bit dissapointment for me.
You can still find the old formulation on Amazon and Nordstrom Rack. I'm buying a bunch!
This happened to the murad city skin sunscreen, added paraffin and more oil and now it’s a horrible grease slip.
Has to be money. They do it hoping we won’t notice. It irritates me too and I think it’s shady. I use a brand and they have discontinued several products that I love. It’s so annoying finding replacements. 🙄
WOW. This is so incredibly disappointing. I first purchased this serum solely based on your love for it….and I fell in love with it too.
Thank goodness for people like you to call them out on their b*llshit! You and your channel are the absolute BEST! 💕
Oddly enough this serum is half off on the 21st at Macys! Part of 10 days of glam. Wonder if its the new or older one.
I understand your frustration, so annoying! 😡 I takes so many trials to find a product thats works so well that you repurchase it time and time again. And for 40 bucks (I didnt even know the serum is so expensive) you are right to expect more!
I wanted to share a channel I came across recently in the hopes it will brighten your mood. Her name is Odile Monod and she is a korean beauty industry insider. She did an amazing video on the sunscreen issue, it helped me to understand how it happened and how to navigate korean sunscreens from now on.
Oh no!!! I feel for you as this is your ultimate HG. Removing it from my wishlist.
But overall this is so disappointing from FAB, they weren’t transparent about this at all, and I always viewed them as a brand with integrity….
Oh no!! That really suck. Thank you for let us know.
It requires money to make money. this is the best secret I have ever discovered we don't make money, we EARn and MULTIPLY money
Ohh godd . That's disgusting. Hope u find a better alternative. I guess it's all about the money
What’s weird is that the description on Sephora still says it has peptides, so maybe it’s another one in the ingredient list.
Girl this is like the 4th or 5th video you make where you strongly imply that any ingredients that come after phenoxyethanol are useless because it’s less than 1%. This is wrong on like fifty different levels. You also seem to have this idea that anything that goes before phenoxyethanol must be higher than 1% when that’s just not true. There’s a good chance that stuff was already below 1%. There’s no way the oatmeal was higher than that in the old formula. Just because phenoxyethanol lets you know that everything after it comes in less than 1% doesn’t mean that it’s literally the first ingredient in the whole formula to have 1% or less. It just happens to be the one ingredient you know for a fact has to follow that maximum. It doesn’t tell you anything about the concentrations BEFORE it. There are a lot of different reasons they might’ve had to switch up the ingredients order than have nothing to do with cutting corners. They probably don’t want people to dupe their products so they jumbled things up to not give any hints about how they made their formula. The only ingredients that have to go in order of highest to lowest concentration are the ones above 1%. Everything lower than that can go in any order. For all you know they didn’t change any percentages at all.
This may interest you? The Eco Well podcast. This episode is with Judit INCI Decoder. There is also one (can’t remember which, maybe the same) about the order of ingredients and how reading the ingredients doesn’t necessarily divulge much about the efficacy of the product. It’s the formula as a whole as it is very complex. Maybe it was Dr Dray.
Thanks for letting us know!
FYI- The strength of the colloidal oatmeal in their ultra repair cream is 0.5%, which is many many times higher than the minimum the FDA requires for it to be considered an effective skin protectant and healer. Yet still just half of 1%. Sorry but this video is filled with a whole lot of assumptions and spreading of misinformation regarding ingredient percentages and how to read an ingredients list. Now there are people all over these comments who just took your word for it that this product is now totally useless because of the placement of a preservative in the list order. Colloidal oatmeal may have been listed as the fifth ingredient before now, but the chances that it was ever at a concentration above 1% are slim to none. I honestly see te placement of phenoxyethanol as their way of telling other companies “don’t bother trying to copy because you have no idea the amounts we used for almost all the ingredients in our formula.” For all you know, the percentage of the oatmeal is still higher than the phenoxyethanol but you have no way of knowing because they can legally be listed in any order.
Thank you for the PSA! Sucks for all the people that took sponsorship and can't say anything negative to bring awareness! This is why we love you ❤️ I loved this so much… now I need to find alternatives because this is gonna happen to all their products I'm sure… No wonder I've seen so much FAB at Marshall's
My theory is they change the formula for logistic reason, same reason as to why food brands change the ingredients, sometimes their may be an issue with a supplier of a specific ingredient and they are not able to use it anymore so instead of just telling customers they disguise it as a new and improved formula, that's the only explanation I could think of because it doesn't make sense to make something good worse without reason
It is susch a waste, you can make it a lot better .Instead of loosing a lot off People that use it.I dont fall for it because of you,i try to look whats in there our ask what i put on my face.Take care.
I hate when companies do this as well. I use the Obagi Sunshield Matte SPF 50 and they recently changed the formula on me. Now it feels gritty. 😒
This sounds so sneaky. Awful. I hate te formulations especially if not announced. Thanks for sharing this with us!
You’re making a whole lot of assumptions based on not understanding basics of the ingredients you’re talking about and how ingredients lists work. To make it worse you have people in here thinking you’re spreading solid information. This is why no one takes skincare influencers seriously. 🤦🏻
Wtf! Ugh… might as well get some Mario badescu…
I know how it feels.. The only hair conditioner that I've really, really liked just changed formula as well… Now it's not as thick anymore.. So annoying
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! How rude!!! To not even mention. This was my #1 holy grail!!! It’s the product that started me into skincare!!! Nooooo
It always starts with $$ and the bottom line. But I also think this may be a response to the target market (aka skincare junkies) getting smarter, more educated, & ingredient savvy etc… While the FAB products are pretty unique, we need to watch other brands closely too. It’s possible they’re trying to adjust to the fact that skin care junkies are smartening up to ingredient lists & formulations & value… but they’re also able to access beauty products from around the globe so competition is fierce. The thing is- bc they don’t have to put concentrations of ingredients they could have just realized (w/ market research) that as long as they have the ingredients in the list somewhere, ppl are still attracted to it & maintain a positive attitude towards the product. If enough people are satisfied/not turned off by change in the formula, of course they’ll surreptitiously do it. Consumers are getting fed a lot of messaging to know the ingredients and learn what is good or bad. If consumers are hyper focused on the names of ingredients and not as concerned with finding out it’s concentration, then of course the brand is going to recognize that and try to save some $$ especially in this environment.
These brands have to adapt to skin care fads and this one of
enlightened consumersis actually dangerous for them so they have to play the game in an underhanded way- one where they see the weakness in the mind of skincare junkies as well as the hole in labeling requirements.Just my 2 cents… 🤔
I'm not sure if you covered it already but they also recently changed their hydrating toner. Don't know why they're reformulating their most loved products and not saying anything about it!
Thanks for talking about this!
Thank you for this. I’m going to buy a few of these before they replace it with the newly formulated one. Very annoying.
What a foolish move. This drives me crazy too. May I ask what the lip color is in this video? It looks great.
No peptide? I am going to have to find something else. Kinda sad.
Hi Sarah, another important point when researching and reviewing mineral, mineral-based or mineral containing sunscreens, is to check if they are nano or coated. Although nano/coated are more aesthetical, they are less effective. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Nooohhhh! I only just started using this! Aaaarrrgggh! On a side note, thanks for the recommendation, it was great.
I think they did this with their toner to, the ingredients have a changed, the preservative is I think the 7th ingredient. This is for Australia not sure if same for overseas.
Noooooo 😩
This was my fav serum 🙁 please make another video on your new skincare recommendations
The one I purchased during the Sephora Sale still has the old ingredients.
Please do alternatives for FAB ultra repair hydrating serum and Ultra repair cream for Dry and Parched skin 😢
Aw man I loved that serum! Skin fix has a pretty good hydrating serum that I like, have you tried it?
I sent FAB an email about this formula change and this is the response I got:

I'm interested to know what you think about their response.
Why can't they just leave sht alone! 😒😒😒😒
❤❤❤
😩 finally got this delivered to India . And it costs a bomb 😩
😱😱😱😱😩😩😩🤯🤯🤯
they also changed the ultra repair cream ,oat toner and pure skin cleanser among others, the star ingredient now is phenoxyethanol
So disappointing! I just ordered a new bottle of this I use it daily
It all comes down to cost cutting. But costs them more in the long run, by losing customers. Not a smart move.
I knew it smelled different and didn't work as good. 😞
