Let’s take a look at the WEST EXPRESS GINGA, Japan’s newest overnight train operated by JR West.
On the way there, I rode in a Green Car first seat from Kyoto to Kii-Katsuura, then toured Kii-Katsuura and stayed at Hotel Urashima, and on the way back, I rode in couchette from Shingu to Kyoto.

Nice review, found the announcement about the crew looking forward to your boarding very funny because everybody had already boarded and the train was moving already. I would be afraid of the luggage in the compartment above my head would fall onto me. I thought trains stopped operating at around midnight. Surprised not to see any attendants on your train, like on the bullet trains. Looks like you had an amazing trip.
