Ludvig Forssell - A Phantom Pain [lyric video]

I’m searching for a whole new beginning
An endless void
This notion that I sense within me
You’re still by my side

Oh, I feel your presence
You’ll never leave here
But if I reach out there to hold you
Every part that’s real disappears

As I become more present now
I can’t see through the pain
A hollow cut through my veins
(the phantom takes his toll)

The days that just keep on coming
The stain that they leave
I wish I could break this casket
But I’m left here to grieve
In a world of my own design

As I become more present now
I can’t see through the pain
A hollow cut through my veins
(the shadows take their toll)

And did you leave me anything?
You’re the phantom of my past…
Do you expect me to last, this way?
(a scar and a phantom pain)

  1. Almost 8 years later and I still tell myself that this one of my favorite games of all time also one of the best of all time now who’s to say it could’ve been the best if kojima finished it, man would I do anything to see the finished product either way a masterpiece in Stealth gaming

  2. “Boss you never cease to amaze” “you really are a living legend” when Miller says these lines it makes accomplishing something in the game that much more meaningful

  3. This song is pretty sad, knowing that Venom Snake couldn't handle the pain and become the phantom of Skullface. The true villain.

  4. What the hell??? I’ve listened to the Mgsv ost so many times and I’ve NEVER came across this one. Crazy stuff. I love it

  5. Had this playing when I fought Sehelanthroupus. Don’t think my erection has gone down since lol 😂.

  6. MGSV was my first metal gear game
and I love it so much
Venom Snake is by far my favorite character
the more I thim about him and the game the more I love them both

  7. Where is an HBO series based on Snake. He is everything badass. Get on it HBO it's a hit. Fave video game series

  9. Here's the funny thing…… we are all literally venom snake
You make that avatar at the beginning of the game to determine that you're big boss's phantom

  10. No me canso de escucharla, pinche cancion toda poderosa me despeina los pelos de los huevos de solo oirla

  11. WE GETTING OUTTA AFGHANISTAN WITH THIS ONE ☝️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥶🥶🥶💎🐶 💎🐶 💎🐶🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷

  12. This was the most 🔥 track on the whole Phantom Pain soundtrack. Love this! When he said "In a world of my own design." That hit me

  13. My souldmate cheated on me after years together. She seemed like a perfect fit. I absolutely relate it to this text, lost half of my soul but still feel phantom pain due to memories. This part hits the strongest:
    "Oh, I feel your presence
    You'll never leave here
But if I reach out there to hold you
    Every part that's real disappears"

  14. remember what they took from you men. hold it deep within, hold it on the darkest place of your heart. don't show them any mercy.

  15. >And did you leave me anything?

    >You're the phantom of my past…

    >Do you expect me to last, this way?
This lines here just devastate me into tears every time.
A person who understands that a significant someone and the past they represent are long gone without any hope of coming back. And yet they still address them as if that person is still around with expectations set to achieve for coming back or at least any other kind of relief.
Meeting with reality and discarding it for delusions as some sort of string that helps to keep on trucking.

  16. I hate the fact this song was never used once in the game besides on cassette. The same goes for Defiance, How ‘Bout Them Zombies ‘ey?, and Behind the Drapery

  17. Goddamn, this is so nostaligc beacue i used to play it in the background while attcking enemy bases

  18. When I played the game, I didn't think about this song that much. Yeah, I thought that it's okay, maybe a little strange to include into an MGS game.
But now I understand it perfectly. I fucked up really, really bad. I've lost everything and hurt the most dearest people, who loved me and believed in me. I've lost money, home, faith of my parents and the faith of the person, who truly loved me. And I've got no one to blame, except myself.
And this song perfectly encapsulates this feeling. It's an endless void, where you feel like your loved ones are near you, your life was always about having them near you, but now it's no one there – even though you still have memories, you can't grasp them anymore and you can't do anything to fix the damage you did. Time goes by, you become more "present", you begin to understand that there is no going back – this is your life now – empty, miserable, lifeless casket. But you made it this way yourself. You're here, stuck grieving your past self, "in the world of your own design".
It's an incredibly poignant song about loss and guilt – and, to be fair, it sucks that it's stuck now as this meme song from MGS. It deserves a lot more attention.
Thank you, Ludvig, because it makes pain a little easier to bear. One day it all will be over. Maybe you won't get back the people you've lost, but at least it won't hurt as much as it does now.

  19. As amazing as Phantom Pain was, it was just shy of being arguably one of the greatest single player story narrative video games of all time. The gameplay was top notch, the graphics were literally next gen, the game itself and story unfortunately was not finished. That's what happens when you built that engine from the ground up. Konami was losing time and Kojima ran out of it. I still have a massive respect for it though. It's still my most anticipated video game in probably 2 decades. Maybe it still wouldn't haven't beaten Witcher 3 but I woulda banked on it.

  20. Its so fucked up that one of the best songs in Metal Gear is stuck in a random shack in Afghanistan

  21. Here. I cried while watching the credits of mgr with " the war still rages within ". Now I'm crying with this one. I'm so glad my Metal Gear phase is here during my depression. This whole franchise is helping me survive day by day.
