  1. I've had this since the day it came out back in July of 2019. Wasn't cheap either. Was over 100 bucks to buy digital. Worth every penny. The amount of time I've sunk in us tremendous. Hardest thing is the language barrier but once you figure out what is what it's a great game. Pitching and hitting are light years ahead of the show. Fielding is a little clunky though. All in all well worth your time and money especially now since like you said it's nearing EOL.

  2. I actually bought a used PS4 last year specifically to play this game. I think it looks awesome and game play is good, but I didn't play very many games before going back to Powerful Pro Yakyuu hardcore. For me the main problem that kept me from being hooked is that batting seems kind of off and I haven't been able to tweak the settings to find something to my liking. For me, homeruns are way too hard to come by, while base hits are way too easy. It was easy to have hits in the high teens with no homeruns in most of the games I played. In Power Pro this was not an issue for me. The overall game play also does not feel as smooth as Power Pro and as un-intuitive as it sounds, I found Power Pro to be the more realistic "feeling" baseball game. I think perhaps the cartoony graphics of Power Pro allows the player animations to be more fluid in most situations.

It's not to say I dislike this game or anything, and I will play it once in a while and am happy to have it (and happy to have a PS4 since I also got to experience a couple of other great games on it), but for me Powerful Pro Yakyuu will likely remain my main baseball game for some time to come.

By the way, I love Japanese pro baseball, but I don't really have a favorite team. I have just enjoyed following the Japanese leagues since I was in high school almost 30 years ago.

  3. I have been studying japanese for a couple months, mainly for gaming honestly. I have a decent grasp on hiragana and katakana but it feels practically useless with how prevalent kanji is. I plan on learning kanji as well but between the other two and vocab I don't want to overload myself. Any tips for learning kanji? Repetition was easy enough for hiragana and katakana but kanji has sooooo many symbols.

  4. I would love a English option on this game I would love to play it, I’m so sick of MLB the show it’s literally the same shit this game looks so much more and tune and the animation looks amazing !!!

  5. I wish they'd just add English options already. We import this game enough that Konami should've done that long ago.

  6. They do have fight songs for particular teams and individual players. You can buy em separately or in a team based pack on Japan's psn just make sure you set a separate PSN ID for that region. You can't access their dlc page if your PS4 is signed in through a North America based PSN id.

  7. Thank you for the review, sounds way better than japanese amazon reviews. Did you play the last PS3 version of the series, the 2015 one and can you compare it?
Many japanese reviews rate it really bad and say the improvement from 2015 is not enough and much content was cut, compared.

Did you play it on the pro or normal PS4? I only own the slim and I don't really like putting a disc in it, because it is so loud. But I wonder about the performance, so I don't want to spend 60€ importing a game which might run like poo on it.

btw: Let's go GIANTS! Viva Giantsu!

  8. I played pro ball and my uncle played in Japan and this game is so realistic it way over MLB the show smh where can you buy this game at ! Love the review !
