It's always hilarious to me how people get so upset about this nonsense. Nobody is forcing you to play on easy. Jesus lmfao get over yourself. The difficulty of souls games is overrated as fuck anyway so it's hilarious.

Oh god no! I thought the gitgudders all died out during COVID. That means a handful of the most virus resistant ones held out and survived, presumably by being even dumber and gatekeepy than the pre-COVID average.
Seriously though, if there are people who are still genuinely upset about how other play (or would like to play) their game, wouldn't it just be easier for them to publicly announce their permanent state of virginity? It's not as if they can pretend otherwise anymore.
Who would ever give a crap about easy modes? I play on either normal or hard difficulties as my own choice and ignore the easy, but have friends who just play on easy to experience the stories. You set it and forget it. The fact that some neckbeards had a 2-week tantrum over it is ridiculous 😂
they do have easy modes tho… strength builds and magic playthroughs r the build in easy modes if my autistic gf can play the games just fine and my handicapped sister what are everyone else excuse? SOMETHING WE DO NEED THO is accessibility for handicapped ppl in games.
Only a sad manchild would think that the unbearably repetitive soulsborne games would somehow suffer for having difficulty modes. Fuck, you could even put in a Pro Gamer Ultimate Mega Blast Mountain Dew Doritos Hard Mode.

I played games my whole life and i wouldnt call myself a "gamer" anymore. Used to be that just meant you sat at home all day and were awkward. Nowadays…lordy.
Souls Gamers™ like to pretend there is some sort of comraderie that exists amongst us, because we all completed the game at the same challenge level. And that adding difficulty levels would take this away.
Which is stupid because 1) there are clearly different builds and play styles that change your experience and 2) it's just stupid. I don't give a single shit how the rest of you completed the game, if I'm honest 🤣

I would be fine if all hard modes had an easy mode so that people who can't beat hard mode can beat hard mode. (And if you can't detect sarcasm, please note that I still think that all hard modes should have an easy mode so that gatekeeping hard modes becomes impossible.)

I never play on easy or hard modes myself, but all videogames should have the basic three so everyone can enjoy their gaming experience how they see fit, don’t put modes behind pay walls though!
It's a self esteem issue alot of the time, like creating an easier option in a game someone has grafted their identity into is a direct and personal attack. Like saying Youre not allowed to see a video game entertainment product as just a toy you MUST see it as high art because otherwise I'm wasting my life being toxic..erm I mean "passionate" about something that's filling a void. Good, fill that void, by all means, just dont crumble into dust when you see an option in the title screen menu that let's you know not everyone is on that same boat.
As much as I hate the bullshit centrist position of "can't we just agree to disagree and still get along?" This absolutely feels like something g that warrants that position.

ds2 had difficulty levels via a challenge covenant & bonfire ascetics. one of several good, innivative additions to the formula in ds2 that was sadly tossed like a baby with the bathwater.

Here's the thing– I get where the hardcore crowd is coming from. You're not completely insane for feeling like some games should be hard.
I've had 2 major brain surgeries. I have a tremor in both hands. My reflexes aren't what they were before that. I love From Software games, but I'm basically cut out of that experience because there's zero difficulty options. I can play other games, it just bums me out.
