Children never made sense in the souls series. The way I see it Everybody are immortal husks that only gain “sentience” with the souls they found in the flames. No one really “dies” they just lose their soul and leave behind a husk. “Children” like how gwyndolin and gwenevere could be explained as “splitting” one’s soul and have it grow and develop as their own entity. Manus did this, I’m pretty sure lorewise gwyn was said to do this as well
