This NEW VR Mod for DARK SOULS 2 is EPIC! // Dark Souls 2 First Person VR (Quest 3)

The Dark Souls 2 VR mod is HERE, which means we can finally play the entirety of the “worst Dark Souls game” in glorious VR, either in third person or, for an added challenge, first person! Dark Souls 2 in first person VR is genuinely incredible, it might not be the most popular Souls game but locations like Majula and boss fights like The Last Giant look and feel incredible in VR thanks to the sense of scale, depth and immersion that VR mods provide. I’m actually a big fan of Dark Souls 2, it feels more “gamey” and disjointed than the other installments and the world building is messy to say the least but it still has a special place in my heart so playing it in VR with this new mod is something I’m so excited to do. VR Dark Souls a MUCH harder however, especially if you choose to play in first person, so prepare yourself for a much bigger challenge than the game normally offers thanks to reduced spatial awareness and some slightly wonky controls. With this new Dark Souls 2 VR mod we now just need a Dark Souls 3 VR mod, Sekiro VR mod and then a full fledged Bloodborne PC release with accompanying VR mod and I’ll be able to die a happy boy…

This Dark Souls 2 VR gameplay was captured using the Steam version of the game on a 4090 VR ready PC with a Quest 3 connected via wired link cable. This new Dark Souls 2 VR mod is available via the Luke Ross REAL mod patreon, grabbing the newest version of this mod will give you access to a version that works with all previous games (Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tshushima, Horizon etc…). 1. Love this game so much, it just feels like a dream you can't quite explain once you've woken up. Amazing to see in VR

  2. The problem with DS2 is it wasn't directed by Hidetaka Miyzaki and it suffered for it in my view. DS1 will always be my favourite by far. A bit of interesting information about DS2's development…

Miyazaki had already started work on Bloodborne as director by the time production on Dark Souls II began. Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura were given co-directorship of the project in lieu of series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Miyazaki himself was relegated to a supervisory role and according to interviews, tried to remain as hands-off on the project as he could so as not to stifle the new directors' creativity. Meanwhile, Miyazaki continued to work on Bloodborne.

Around halfway into development, the higher-ups decided that the direction that Dark Souls II was taking was undesirable and Shibuya was booted from the project. Tanimura was then handed the reigns as sole director of the project and the entire world and narrative were rewritten. Characters were remade entirely and existing assets from earlier in development had to be slotted into the game as best they could and stitched into the new narrative. The production continued this way and Dark Souls II as we knew it at launch was born.

  3. "I can't remember the name of a single boss in this game"
"This obscure NPC sitting in a corner is voiced by Peter Serafinowicz"

  4. Would it be a bad idea to play the first time in first person as we can't see the character animations when dodging?

  5. Souls games are basically hit and roll

    That doesn't work in VR

Better try Grimlord if you like VR and Souls Games

  6. 1:45 "Dark Souls 2 has a really special place in my heart"

Proceeds to not know the bosses or locations 👍

  7. DS2 is my favorite. First one I played all the way through, so I am bias.

People complain about the mobs in DS2 quite a bit, but I always looked at each level as a chess match to get all the other players off the board. From what I've seen of the people that actively dislike it are people that do Dex builds. Those people seem to gear towards more ARPG type games, but I prefer the slow and methodical. Granted, having to level up to gain dodge frames is ridiculous.

The thing DS2 nailed though was the New Game Plus. They NEED to bring back bonfire ascetics, such a neat idea

  8. In my opinion, dark souls 2 is the worst souls game, but it's still dark souls and dark souls is good.

  9. Dark souls 2 was something unique for me and what got me in love with franchise. Thanks to my friend
